Applications for the JPS Nurse Residency Program (October 2023 Cohort) will be open May 1st, 2023 to May 31st, 2023 (closes at 5pmCST).Cohort Start Date: 10/30/2023Job Summary:

The Nurse Resident is responsible for the delivery of quality patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation.Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:Actively participates in the JPS Health Network Nurse Residency Program for the first 12 months of hire.Maintains credentials and educational requirements related to nursing practice.Performs physical assessments and collection of health histories as ordered or indicated.Safely and timely administer medications and treatments and collection of specimens as ordered.Assists patients in activities while encouraging and instructing patients to do as much for themselves as possible, within safe guidelines.Timely and accurately documents within the electronic medical record of the care provided to patients.Develops and implements individualized care plans guided by patients' needs and preferences and modifications of the care plan as indicated by changes in the patients condition.Provides thorough and appropriate education to patients, and maintains the ongoing teaching plan.Interprets patient information and makes critical decisions about needed actions.Coordinates care across settings in collaboration with all individuals involved in the care of the patient.Supervises nursing tasks delegated to unlicensed personnel.Job description is not an all-inclusive list of duties and may be subject to change with or without notice. Qualifications:

Associates Degree from an accredited school of professional nursing.Current licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas or proof of reciprocity of licensure between the State of Texas and another state. Must be maintained throughout employment.Must successfully complete, pass, and maintain all applicable and requisite training as established by each department in accordance with the JPS Clinical Job Specific Competency Validation Checklist. Completes the requisite certification and courses within the required timeframes, to include but not limited to:Successful completion of unit-specific competency-based orientation program within 90 days of employment, based on home unit/employee specific orientation plan.Current JPS recognized BLS certification and must be maintained throughout employment.Completion of unit specific competency based orientation program within 120 days.Successful completion of EKG and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire, if working on a monitored unit and maintained throughout employment (Critical care, ED, CDU, AHU, Labor & Delivery, T8, T2, & T3).
