The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse I APRN is licensed by the state of Massachusetts to engage in advanced practice nursing activities. APRN practice activities include, but are not limited to: advanced assessment; diagnosis; treatment, referrals, and other modalities for individuals, groups, or communities across the life span for health promotion or health maintenance and for those who are experiencing acute or chronic disease, illness, trauma or other life-altering event in which rehabilitative, and/or palliative interventions are necessary. The knowledge and skills required for this role include clinical experience in a focused area, evidence-based practice/ research, collaboration to advance the practice of nursing, and the professional development of nurses. The focus of the APN's specialized knowledge and skills includes: patients/families, nurses, and nursing practice. The APRN is accountable for collaborating with multidisciplinary members of the health care team to design, implement, evidence-based care. Develops and recommends standards, policies, and procedures of patient care-Participates in hospital, departmental and multidisciplinary programs, committees, and special projects.Clinical Practice and Outcomes, works collaboratively as part of a team. Participates in NP mentoring. ImpactShares specialty knowledge with staff.Applies principles of EBP and QI into patient care. LeadershipAwareness of organizational mission and goals.Committee/professional organization membership. ADDENDUM with Psychiatric certification May assess patients' medical, behavioral, and psychological needs and conditions, including, but not limited to diagnostic assessments.May prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications in collaboration with psychiatric team.May provide psycho-education, counseling, health promotion, and preventive services.May communicate as appropriate with patients' relatives, collateral contacts, and fellow professionals in the community to develop and implement treatment plans.May provide physical health screening and primary health care monitoring may provide clinical consultation to peers and other health care professionals.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication. Ability to appropriately evaluate all aspects of a situation and to independently make appropriate and timely decisions. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters discreetly and to ensure confidentiality guidelines are maintained by staff. Knowledge in aspects of safety applicable to position; Knowledge of and compliance with institutional, JCAHO, HIPAA, and other regulatory bodies standards. Demonstrates awareness of how the organizational mission and goals apply to practice across disciplines Ability to identify systems including structure, functions, resources, and barriers that have an effect on patient care delivery and coordination Ability to recognize patterns and trends within disease states.Principal Duties & Responsibilities : The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for:
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary team to provide care to children, adolescents and adults with pain in the inpatient setting.Developing, recommending and implementing internal standards, policies and procedures to improve quality and cost-effectiveness of patient care.Participating in hospital, departmental and multidisciplinary programs, committees and special projects.12 hour shifts Day/night rotating with every 4th weekend.
To qualify, you must have:
An MSN and Massachusetts license as Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner.3-5 years' experience in a pediatric setting, ideally with a pediatric intensive care background.Meticulous attention to detail; strong verbal and written communication skills, and superb collaborative skills
