Our Associate Teacher Program is committed to training, supporting, and inspiring new teachers in their journey to becoming a progressive practitioner. Associate teachers work directly with a mentor teacher, academic assistant, and principal/early childhood director for their campus. They become valuable contributors through their collaboration with the Stevens community to help guide and hone their teaching skills. In order to provide a range of learning experiences in the three-year program, associate teachers will work in at least two different grade levels.Reports to:

PrincipalThe CandidateYou are passionate about working with children, have developed communication skills, and are committed to teaching and learning. You are open to receiving feedback from head teachers and academic administrators. You are a professional who is energetic, has a positive attitude, and is a self-starter. You work well with others in a small community and can instill confidence in the program with parents as required.Primary ResponsibilitiesSupport the head teacher in the day-to-day class activities including arrival, dismissal, morning meeting, recess/lunch, lesson support, classroom management, and transitions.With the head teacher and in consultation with the school counselor and learning specialist, develop an understanding of each student holistically.Assist the head teacher in establishing productive parent/caregiver relationships.Assist the head teacher in lesson planning in the subject areas of language arts, social studies, math, and community building.Be ready to assume responsibilities for the class in the absence of the head teacher and with the support of a community teacher.Assist the head teacher in conducting student assessments in language arts and mathematics.Assist the head teacher in report writing and parent/guardian conferences.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in a related field, Master’s preferred.Additional RequirementsArrival by 8:15am.Attend a selection of weekly faculty meetings, Back to School Night, and formal Parent-Teacher Conferences (in fall and spring).Attend start of year and closing faculty meetings.Attend grade-related field trips (including overnight trips if applicable) and certain evening events involving grade level students.Salary & BenefitsSalary range $37,000 - $38,500.Medical, vision, and dental insurance.Interest-free line of credit for health and/or veterinary services and expenses.403(b) retirement savings account match program.Life insurance and long-term disability insurance.Reimbursements for cell-phone and an on-street parking permit in Hoboken.Paid personal days and sick days.Terms of EmploymentThis is a 10-month, full-time assignment starting August 2024. There will be an option to renew upon mutual agreement.
