Description
The Master of Tow is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of barges and for the safety of the cargo. Responsible for safely docking and undocking ships. Responsible for the performance and safety of his/her crew, passengers, vessel, and tow and for ensuring that the equipment is kept neat, clean and in good working order. This position includes in harbor and ocean work.This position has a flexible schedule, we are looking for full-time, part-time, casual or hitch. Minimum 500 GRT Master of Tow with Oceans endorsementTWIC CardPassportEligible for DBIDS Military Base AccessCPR/First Aid CertCurrent Driver’s LicenseBasic Computer Proficiency (Microsoft Excel, Word, Google doc and sheets, etc.)3-5 years’ experiencePhysical Demands
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. without restriction. Position involves lifting, pulling and operating heavy equipment and objects.Agility to bend, stoop, or squat, and climb high steps/ladders frequently.Physical dexterity and strength to operate deck machinery; work on equipment that is poorly accessible or in confined workspaces.Must be able to keep balance/equilibrium while performing duties at various heights.Ability to work in confined spaces for prolonged periods of time.Adequate hearing & vision ability.Proper heat/cold tolerance, working in all weather conditions.Comfortable working while exposed to grease, dirt, paint, water, etc.Must be able to swim.Benefits & Opportunities
