Vice President, Property Claims

The VP, Property Claims will have responsibility for the management of a team of claims professionals directly handling and managing claims involving the following lines of business: E&S, General Liability, Property and Inland Marine. This individual will provide leadership, coordination, strategic direction and management of all associated processes and functions.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required; JD preferred.
- Candidate should have 10+ years of experience leading a team of claims adjusters with experience in general liability.
- Typical Positions Supervised: Claim Manager, Claim Adjuster, Paralegal.
- Licensed adjuster.
Primary Job Functions:
- Provide day to day management of all claims related matters as well as the analysis, reserve development and execution of claims strategies to deliver optimal loss cost management and customer satisfaction in support of overall business objectives.
- Collaborate with the leadership team on loss trend, coverage, and exposure analysis for existing and new business opportunities.
- Oversee internal claims personnel to manage and achieve high standards of productivity, efficiency, and alignment of organizational goals.
- Ensure compliance with all local, federal, and state regulations related to claims while minimizing risk/exposure to the organization.
- Participate in underwriting, actuarial, client or broker meetings regularly.
- Provide oversight and accountability in the company's use of key vendors such as outside counsel, experts, TPA's and other vendors.
- Demonstrate knowledge of severity files and trends.
- Manage the resolution of claim issues/complaints raised by internal and external business partners.
- Provide reserve and settlement authority to claim staff in connection with their requests and recommendations.
- Build and develop organizational talent.

Skills & Competencies Required:
- Demonstrated experience leading a commercial claims organization including general liability and professional lines.
- Strong business and financial acumen, including problem-solving skills, data analysis, critical thinking, business analysis and organizational skills.
- High level of emotional intelligence, influencing skills, and communication skills to enable collaboration with a variety of key stakeholders including senior executive stakeholders.
- Ability to effectively create a collaborative, team-oriented environment including mentoring and motivating team members to be accountable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability in the use of metrics and data to drive performance, assure continuous improvement, and increase efficiency.
- Broad-based knowledge of claims across multiple specialty lines.
- Experience in excess/umbrella, D&O/E&O claims, general liability, and reinsurance is preferred.
