The Associate Pastor of Discipleship works closely with the Senior Pastor and our Ministerial team in our mission to help adults and families grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. The main areas of focus are Adult, Small Groups, Missions, and Ministries. This person will build strategies and relationships to help reach our community and grow in their relationships with Christ Jesus. This role will need to have a heart for the city and the nations and seek to empower adults and families to impact the world with the Gospel.Job Description

Our vision and purpose as a church is, "To be a community of faith that glorifies God by embracing His Word, impacting our circles with the Gospel, and empowering believers to make disciples of Jesus Christ."As God brings individuals and families to Parkway Church, it is our duty to proclaim biblical truth, nurture biblical community and engage in biblical mission, so that all will grow in their love for the Christ of Scripture and make disciples.The Associate Pastor’s primary duty is to assist the Lead Pastor in this task, with a focus on the ministry of shepherding, education, and discipleship. This person will also share general pastoral and administrative duties that arise, and will need developed skills in teaching, administration, leading small groups, ministry education and pastoral counseling.Reports to:

The Lead PastorResponsibilitiesTo reach and connect with multi-generational adults and families with the primary purpose of helping them grow in Christ-likeness.Support the Lead Pastor in planning and implementing vision and ministry.Give oversight and leadership to all areas of adult discipleship (Life Groups, Men, Women, etc).Prepare strategies that provide pathways for connecting people with small groups and small group multiplication.Work with Children’s and Student Leadership to maintain and grow a vertically aligned strategy of discipleship.Maintain a disciplined life of worship, Bible reading, prayer, and tithing.Invest in the development, growth, and training of life group leaders through training, one-on-one, and group development.Provide pastoral care and build an environment of community for and with lay leaders in the areas of Adult Discipleship.Develop a plan for communicating strategies, events, and opportunities with leadership.Assist ministry leaders when necessary.Organizational Administration:Collaborate with paid and lay leadership to ensure the continued health of discipleship groups.Use organizational tools to provide confidence in the preparation and execution of ministry action items.Attend staff meetings, retreats, and other church functions, as directed.Congregational Ministry:Provide biblical counseling, prayer, and ministry to people as needed, and as directed by the Lead Pastor.Serve as an active member of the church congregation by attending services, small groups, and church events.The Associate Pastor’s responsibilities will include a mix of normal business hours at the church office, church services, evening meetings, staff meetings, and other meetings should the need arise.Passion for ministering the Gospel of Jesus Christ and encouraging the spiritual growth and development of our church members.Welcoming visitors and creating ways for new guests to get plugged into our local body and ministry.
