Responsibilities
A Data Architect will design, develop, manage and determine how an enterprise’s data will be stored and utilized.Identify strategic data requirements of an enterprise and design models to ensure such data requirements align with the architecture of the enterprise.Partner with a cross-functional team, executive leadership, subject matter experts, and master data stewards to contribute to a holistic data governance strategy and enterprise-wide implementation of the strategy.Develop a business case for modernizing and expanding the enterprise's data warehouse to improve efficiency and provide employees with consistent and reliable access to key data.Create and maintain up-to-date documentation pertaining to the definition of an enterprise-wide data strategy, along with a roadmap for its execution.Work with business domain owners to develop the capabilities to analyze, design, develop, maintain, and enhance data across the organization.Drive out key global business requirements, work with cross-functional teams, and influence data-related decisions, translating them into workable requirements.Challenge any requests that may be unreasonable or unnecessary, ensuring that project deliverables are met according to requirements.Create and provide structured training and/or content for other IT members.Provide detailed knowledge and support to all levels of the organization as required.Essential Functions
Support business initiatives to ensure the enterprise follows best practices for data standards and data management.Examine data sets, identify patterns, and use that information to help Americold gain a competitive advantage.Envision data pipelines and how data will flow through the enterprise.Design, document, build, and implement database architectures and applications.Build and support the capability to develop and optimize definitions and specifications of data extraction, transformation, and load for analytics and extending business system solutions.Manage the partnership with Data Integration Hubs around data modeling, data mappings, data validation, hierarchy management, and overall security.Provide continuous enhancement and review of MDM matching rules, data quality, and validation processes.Determine upgrades and improvements to current data architectures.Build data models for database structures, analytics, and AI applications.Create an inventory of the enterprise’s master data and store the data in an easily accessible manner while ensuring protection from unauthorized access.Integrate new systems and functions like security, performance, scalability, reliability, and data recovery.Develop supporting Data Quality programs and metrics.Support and build in-house MDM skills around various MDM technologies, Data Quality tools, database systems, analytical tools, and Big Data platforms.Interface directly with business and process partners to understand their needs and objectives first-hand.Collaborate with other sub-units of the enterprise architecture to develop data solutions and models for the organization’s needs.Continually monitor, refine, and report data management system performance.Research new opportunities and create methods to acquire data.Prepare time estimates for a project and detailed time estimates for each program within the project.Work closely with the internal/external customer responsible to perform any tasks related to critical software and/or process alterations.Generate and compile corrective action documents, complete with probable causes and possible solutions to systems issues and follow through to deployment of solutions.Maintain detailed knowledge of where and how assigned disciplines are utilized across the organization.Establish a close working relationship with the sites to create and maintain a cohesive and connected business system to support the needs of the business.Identify and communicate key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.Experience in data management systems and database platforms required.Experience in enterprise reporting and dashboard solutions, Power BI, etc.Performs work with little to no supervision and provides guidance to lower-level & less experienced developers.Acts as project leader on large, complex projects.Maintains a senior-level workload.Fully capable of working at the highest technical level.Has 7+ years of relevant experience with implementing enterprise data solutions.Database and cloud computing design, architectures, and data lakes.Demonstrated planning, task organizing, and execution skills.Programming languages, including Java, Python, and C/C++, as well as unified modeling language.Strong communication skills (written/verbal), with an emphasis on the ability to translate complex concepts between business and technical groups.Experience and/or knowledge of FMEA, ITIL, COBIT, ISO, and Project Management Methodologies.Strong customer service orientation.Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.Knowledge & Employment Standards
Needs to be a first-class problem solver – logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail.Able to boil complex problems down to their constituent elements and formulate and evaluate a range of alternative solutions.Must have excellent conceptual design skills – an instinctive feel for which solutions ‘fit’ and which need rethinking.Experience with implementing, configuring, and maintaining enterprise software applications such as WMS, Distribution, Transportation, and Labor Management is a benefit.Machine learning, predictive modeling, and natural language processing.Data management and reporting technologies, predictive analytics, data visualization, and unstructured data.Knowledge of transportation and warehouse industries is a benefit.
