Design Director - AviationThe Aviation Senior Design Director
will provide the expertise to all conventional aspects of functional area and applies advanced concepts and techniques to unconventional engineering problems. A technical specialist on airfield design or construction projects that may include runway, taxiway, apron, and utility improvements. Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.
Primary Responsibilities:
Direct multidisciplinary teams in support of program and project structuring, start-up, planning, and delivery, including the establishment of a PMO.
Direct, review and advise program and project teams on procurement and delivery methodologies.
Direct, review and advise program and project teams on budget development and cost control.
Direct, review and advise program and project teams on program risks through program and project life-cycle.
Review and advise on program stakeholder management.
Support client with executive level communication and presentations.
Participate in project start-up, planning, procurement, design development, pre-construction, and construction meetings.
Evaluate project team’s design development, construction methods, techniques, and phasing.
Assist in identifying, developing a plan for, and resolving issues as they arise during planning, procurement, design development, and construction.
Assist with program schedule and specific project CPM schedule updates and sequencing including submittal status and production analysis.
Advise program team with functional area reporting as required.
Responsible for Quality Control implementation and documentation on specific program functional areas for adherence to the Project’s policies and contract requirements.
Manage safety planning, execution, and documentation on the project.
Assist project team with scope review of change management and schedule impacts as well as development of fragments and/or major CPM schedule modifications.
Assist with handling of subcontractor claims and back charges.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with all Project parties and stakeholders.
Day-to-day management of program team.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Four (4) year BA or BS or professional degree in Construction Management, Architecture or engineering, or a related degree.
Graduate degree preferred.
Professional Engineer or Registered Architect preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with at least 5 years of experience in the aviation market sector with increasing management and leadership roles.
Experience managing multidisciplinary teams across a program life-cycle.
Experience on aviation capital programs at both the airside/landside and terminal construction.
Compensation Range:
$160,732.00 - $214,309.00
