DescriptionAshley River Classical Academy (ARCA) is hiring its founding faculty to teach its students when it opens in August of 2025. ARCA is a tuition-free, public, classical charter school. It is part of the Barney Charter School Initiative of Hillsdale College, a network of classical charter schools united by curriculum and purpose. ARCA will initially open K-5 and grow to K-12 by adding one grade level each year. ARCA is now accepting applications from new and experienced educators for all K-5 positions.Each faculty member is a professional who is esteemed and supported by a faculty of colleagues striving for excellence. The faculty is entrusted with practical implementation of the mission of ARCA: To train the minds and develop character in students through a content-rich Classical Education in the liberal arts and sciences utilizing instruction in the principles of moral practices and civic virtue.Requirements

Developing and maintaining a system of schoolwide procedures to create an orderly, safe environment for all studentsWorking closely with teachers, parents, and students to implement the school’s systems of discipline and rewardsProviding guidance and coaching to teachers on aspects of classroom managementAssisting in the recruitment and selection of faculty membersDeveloping schoolwide schedules to ensure adequate supervision at lunch, recess, assemblies, and other eventsPlanning and delivering high-quality professional development opportunities for facultyConsistently demonstrating the school’s Virtues: Prudence, Justice, Temperance, Courage, Responsibility, Compassion, and PerseveranceAssisting the Head of School with other responsibilities as neededQualities and Characteristics

Bachelors or above in any subject area; Masters or PhD preferredFamiliarity with best practices in school management and disciplineSignificant teaching experience; experience with classical education is preferredLeadership: The ability to inspire others through both word and exampleHigh moral characterThoughtfulness and a love of learningSalary and Benefits
