Endoscopy -ORJob Overview:The Lead Endoscopy Technician, under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse, assists physicians or other providers with procedures performed in the endoscopy setting. This position functions as the technical expert, assisting in the performance of procedures as well as performing administrative and coordination as a lead worker.This position is the expert resource in the use and maintenance of the highly complex endoscopic equipment and instrumentation used in endoscopy specialties. The Lead Endoscopy Technician is responsible for the orientation, training, and mentoring of those individuals at the endoscopy technician level. The position is also responsible for developing content and/or teaching continuing education of the endoscopy technician. This position functions with a high degree of autonomy and will assume additional responsibilities as delegated by the Charge Nurse.Qualifications:Required:Formal training or experience in medical specialty (i.e. LPN, Surgical Tech)Minimum 2 years of experience as an Endoscopy TechnicianCompletion of SGNA Associates Program preferredPreferred: N/ACertifications and Licenses Required (if applicable):CER certification requiredBLS requiredScheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions):8:00 5:00DaysPer DiemEssential Functions:Performs and serves as a technical expert for endoscopy technicians, assisting with endoscopic proceduresRecognizes emergent situations during procedures and demonstrates the ability to set priorities to assist the teamAssists with the collection of specimensFacilitates proper patient positioning prior to proceduresUnderstands theory and safety when using cautery modalities including monopolar, bipolar, and argon plasma coagulation and their various probesAssists with therapeutic interventions such as balloon dilations, polypectomy, and clip placementSeeks out learning experiences to maintain competency in endoscopy and shares knowledge through continuing educationFacilitates teamwork by willingly assisting other team members in such activities as room cleaning, turnovers, procedures setups, patient transport, and scope reprocessingCoordinates review of special order supply inventoryServes as troubleshooting resource in the department for use of equipment.
