EMPIRE is looking for a
Staff Software Engineer
to join our downtown San Francisco office or our New York City Office. This role is in person/hybrid and will report to the VP of Engineering and will be responsible for both back-end and front-end development. This person would become a key member of the development team and will help the company in implementing complex web applications that retain a solid focus on user experience and design.Responsibilities:Work independently and as part of a team on several projects, including acting as lead developer and owning projects.Write clean code and documentation.Help estimating the level of effort for both net-new development work and updates/upgrades.Work with product managers and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications.Perform regular code reviews with other members of the development team.Provide input on and sometimes lead software/system architecture discussion and planning.Establish, with the help of the team, best practices for code quality and testing.Be a key part of leveling up more junior team members.Key Notes For Success:Min 8 years of experience developing fullstack web technologies with PHP, Java, Python, Javascript/Typescript or similar.Experience with modern Javascript frameworks.Experience with modern SQL and relational databases, including best practices for data modeling and performant queries.A solid understanding of modern development approaches and the ability to write clean code.Experience with git and continuous integration workflows.Ability to read, understand, and debug code in an efficient manner.Knowledge of security concepts.The ability to work independently and collaboratively depending on the project scope.The ability to set clear expectations with internal team members.Experience with building and interacting with RESTful APIs and Mobile Apps.Huge plus if you have experience designing/building data pipelines and working with large datasets.Must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York City Area or willing to relocate.Bonus Beats:High Energy: You are motivated, don't procrastinate, and thrive when making a real impact.
