Full time, Sunday through Saturday, 8:30am-8:30pm, 32 hours

At the CHL Clinical Stabilization Services, we engage our clients using a multi-disciplinary team that supports the creation of their chosen recovery path. We are looking for compassionate, inclusive, and open-minded individuals to serve on our amazing team as Counselor II to guide and support them on their chosen path.

I. Primary Responsibilities:

Primary Counselor: Serve as primary residential counselor for specified number of residents as requested by supervisor and manage all aspects of care from admission to discharge.

Treatment Planning: Assess and document needs assessments, negotiate treatment plans, document progress reviews, and complete program notes as part of continuous quality management activities.

Community Living: Collaborate with all treating psychiatrists, doctors, nurses, social workers, other professionals, and paraprofessionals.

Nutrition: Understand the reciprocal impact between substance use disorder, mental health disorders, and healthy nutrition.

Medications: Monitor residents’ medication refills, documentation of medication administration and changes in medication orders, assist with attending appointments, and safe storage of medications.

Groups: Lead recovery-oriented groups of a psychoeducational and process-oriented nature.

Continuity of Care: Participate in treatment team meetings, case conferences, and collaborate with other providers.

II. Position Qualifications:

Education/Licensing:

Required:

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in substance use disorder intervention and prevention, psychology, or human services.

Compliance with regulations for DMH, HUD, DSAS, and DPH MAP Certification.

Ability to submit to a CORI and DCF/CPS background check.

Preferred:

Certification as an alcohol and drug counselor (CADAC) or Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, level II (LDAC II).

Skills/Experience:

Required:

Ability to write behaviorally stated progress notes.

Ability to observe, document, teach, and respond to mental and physical health needs.

Preferred:

Bilingual preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand for extended periods.

Must be able to move about the space periodically during the shift.

Must be able to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.
