Summary:

The Supplier Quality Leader is responsible for ensuring that the products and services provided by suppliers meet the required quality standards. The primary duties include leading the supplier quality team (SQEs and Incoming Inspection associates), evaluating supplier performance, collaborating with internal teams to identify quality issues, developing improvement plans, and monitoring progress. Conduct audits, provide training to suppliers, and foster strong relationships to enhance overall quality and reliability in the supply chain.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain and develop procedures that will improve department efficiency.

Develop and initiate quality and environmental standards for suppliers.

Provide and/or recommend the purchase of adequate inspection equipment, tools and fixtures necessary to inspect purchased parts.

Manage the incoming Quality Assurance (QA) inspection team and the Supplier Quality Engineers (SQE); set departmental goals, tracking, and establishing metrics.

Establish department priorities and effectively communicate those priorities to QA and SQE associates.

Train and educate SQE associates in the use of statistical quality controls to improve quality of parts received. Train QA associates in the use of quality inspection tools and equipment and maintain ISO education records for all QA associates.

Keep abreast of the latest industry requirements, test procedures and equipment, acting as an internal Subject Matter Expert (SME).

Manage the development of new suppliers by reviewing appropriate quality & environmental surveys and evaluations.

Manage the data and publish Supplier Quality and Service Ratings on a quarterly basis.

Establish overall commodity quality goals for suppliers.

Request and approve, as appropriate, PPAPs for new or changed supplier of manufactured parts tooling.

Participate in APQP gate reviews when necessary to support engineering with supplier tooling and equipment validation.

Lead and/or assist in conducting internal audits per standard quality practices and to the current quality standards followed by Grayhill.

As part of the Material Review Board (MRB), review and authorize disposition of non-conforming material.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university with focus in Engineering or Quality.

Three to five years of demonstrated supervisory experience.
