The Legal Recruiting Manager oversees the on-campus recruiting process and summer programs for the Los Angeles and Santa Monica offices. This position will also serve as a resource for coordinating law school relations for all of Goodwin’s California offices. This role reports to the West Coast Legal Recruiting Senior Manager. Along with the California Legal Recruiting team members, the Manager is a “face of the firm” for Southern California summer associates and entry-level attorney hires and is called upon to ensure recruiting efforts and initiatives run smoothly and consistently.
What You’ll Do
On-Campus Recruiting: With the support of the team’s coordinators and/or assistants, plan and execute on-campus and call-back interviews for Goodwin’s Los Angeles and Santa Monica offices. Evaluate resumes, participate in strategy planning, lead hiring committee meetings, and provide statistical reporting and updates. Attend on-campus events and organize materials for interviewers.Summer Program: Manage Southern California summer programs, which includes event planning, work assignment allocation, coordinating work evaluations, and processing final reviews. Other responsibilities include planning orientation, offers, tracking attendance at events, working with outside vendors, regularly meeting with summer associates in each office, etc.Law School Relations: Work with the Firmwide Law School Relations team regarding OCI process, effective recruitment methods, candidate-specific issues, sponsorships, and other proposals for firm participation at law schools. Act as lead organizer for student groups and Career Services Office-led activities in California.Firmwide Initiatives & Ad Hoc Projects: The Legal Recruiting Manager works closely with the Training and Professional Development team to support firmwide recruiting, retention, and diversity initiatives. Assist with ad hoc projects and initiatives as needed.Manage Southern California Coordinator and/or Assistant and support their professional development.
Who You Are:
Bachelor’s degree required.5-8 years of work experience, with prior law firm recruitment experience or law school career services experience strongly preferred.Exceptionally strong organizational skills, and ability to prioritize workload. Ability to work extended hours as needed, and work on multiple projects and changing priorities.Superior interpersonal and communication skills, professional demeanor, and ability to interact effectively with all levels of firm personnel, as well as others outside of the firm.Sound judgment and creative problem-solving skills, and ability to respect, protect, and maintain highly confidential and sensitive information.Willingness to participate in weeknight events required.Local and Firmwide Travel required.
