Work Shift:DayPay Type:SalaryHourly Rate (if applicable):N/ATargeted Base Salary Range (if applicable):$92,800.00 - $120,400.00JOB OVERVIEW:Manage the movement of materials, product and deliveries for the domestic Blue Diamond network through the oversight of third party partners, internal relationships and defined business processes. The role will manage the Penske Transportation Management relationship ensuring all phases of Transportation Management (TM) are meeting our requirements (Procurement, Contract / Carrier Management, Optimization, Freight Pay and Audit, etc). The role will work internally with stakeholders to define business requirements, implement standard operating procedures and define clear roles and responsibilities. This role will manage all Over, Short and Damage claims as well as lead the efforts around Customer chargeback and Deduction investigation, root cause and corrective action. Manager, Transportation will play a critical function in meeting customer requirements and building customer success while building business practice maturity and future strategy.RESPONSIBILITIES:ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSManages the Penske Transportation Management relationship driving performance and accountability through communication, forecasting, planning and coordination.Owns SAP TMS for Domestic transportation and provides thought leadership and structure for transportation optimization efforts utilizing industry standard practices for Multi Stop shipments, Pool distribution, Mode selection, Trailer utilization, consolidation programs and other methodology to drive on time delivery while driving costs down.Lead the optimization of TMS into the overall BDG business executing our strategy to build acumen and internal capabilities to absorb Transportation Management over a strategic horizon timeline.Manage Over, Short and Damage claims by collaborating with finance, Penske and customer service to recoup any losses while driving root cause investigation to reduce occurrences and cost impact.Lead the efforts around Customer chargeback and Deduction investigation, root cause and corrective action by collaborating with Customer Service, Finance, Customers, Sales and Penske to search for root causes, dispute inappropriate chargebacks and institute corrective actions to stop any future charges.Acts as a change agent that leads the organization towards the expected Continuous Improvement culture by instituting best practices as appropriate, including methods such as TPM, Six Sigma, Lean, etc.Participates in cross-functional teams to better understand and meet customer/grower needs and operate facility more efficiently.Develops future strategy while building maturity in each phase of Transportation Management.Promotes continuous learning of staff, resulting in a flexible and agile workforce.Stays abreast on cutting-edge technology through external education programs, benchmarking, or similar facilities and professional seminars.This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTSBachelor's degree in business or manufacturing or related field.6 Years of Transportation or Private Fleet logistics management experience.3 Years of Transportation Management system use and configuration, preferably SAP TM.Experience managing projects, implementing change and driving continuous improvement with a focus on cost savings and on time improvement.Experience managing transportation for a wide range of equipment; knowledge of food transport quality standards and requirements, especially through a 3rd party provider. High-degree of cross-functional understanding of maintenance practices and techniques; good understanding of 3rd party transportation management vendors.Total minimum number of years of experience required

Demonstrated leadership ability through discovering and utilizing people's capabilities, recognizing good work and earning the respect of peers and subordinates.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES1-5PHYSICAL DEMANDSMust be able to physically move throughout the facility, including climbing multiple flights of stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks, and tight access areas. Able to sit/work at a desk for extended periods of time doing things such as analytical work or reports, which requires focus, while utilizing a computer.WORK ENVIRONMENTOffice work environment that will include some travel.
