Job Description: Thrift Store ManagerThe Thrift Store is a key component of the financial support for our Clinical Day Treatment Program. The Manager's position is a highly responsible role that provides oversight on all matters pertaining to the thrift store. The Manager supervises and participates in the day-to-day operations of the Store and ensures compliance with established policies and procedures. Responsibilities include:Overseeing the recruiting, training, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, and supervision of all store employees.Ensuring the accountability and security of cashier funds.Maintaining the neatness and attractiveness of store merchandise and ensuring displays remain well-stocked.Assisting customers in locating items and prices and explaining store policy.Training and instructing employees in proper methods and procedures.Preparing daily sales reports and bank deposits.Supervising the unloading of incoming donations and ensuring items are properly priced, sorted, stocked, and/or discarded.Handling sensitive and confidential information.Duties and Responsibilities:Provide effective leadership and supervision to store employees and clients.Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals and expectations.Maintain each employee’s personnel file and forward originals to the personnel office at the main location.Oversee store employees and clients by assigning job assignments.Address customer concerns or inquiries promptly and professionally.Schedule pick-ups of donations from the public and coordinate the truck drivers’ schedule.Train and monitor clerks and clients in proper customer relations.Unload, sort, price, hang or display donations from the public each day.Balance cash register and make deposits at the bank.Comply with HIPAA privacy issues regarding confidential and sensitive information.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or G.E.D.Three years progressively responsible experience in a retail store environment with at least two years in a supervisory capacity, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.Ability to work positively with a variety of personalities.Ability to meet attendance requirements.Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.Ability to perform mathematical computations.Physical Demands:Limited physical effort required associated with sitting, walking, standing, lifting, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, and carrying light objects (generally less than 50 lbs.).Work Environment:Work is performed in a normal store environment with little discomfort associated with weather changes. The resale business generates revenues and provides training opportunities for the AUI Clinical Day Treatment Program for adults with developmental disabilities.
