$15.45 per hourWork Hours:Saturday 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.Sunday 9:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.Job Summary:Under the general direction of the Lead Visitor Engagement Associate, the Visitor Engagement Associate (VEA) is the primary point of contact for museum members and visitors to the Honolulu Museum of Art (HoMA). VEAs strive to provide consistently excellent customer service and ensure a world-class visitor experience at all museum entry points, including the main campus, the Doris Duke Theatre, and the Art School. VEAs have an enthusiastic willingness to assist members and visitors with all inquiries related to museum programming, events, and offerings. Visitor Engagement Associates attend routine enrichment training with museum supervising staff in departments such as Development, Curatorial, Collections, Security, and the Theater.Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma and one year travel industry or customer service-related experience with a point-of-sale (POS) system.Must enjoy working with the public, meeting new people, and partnering with volunteers.Must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to assist and communicate well with a diverse group of people in a positive, professional, and courteous manner to foster strong customer relations.Able to exercise good judgment and maintain a calm demeanor in challenging situations.Must have an interest in the Honolulu Museum of Art and an enthusiastic willingness to assist visitors to the museum.Ability to work special events throughout the year as needed.Honesty, integrity, enthusiasm, perspective, and a strong work ethic supported by commitment and follow-through.Ability to work within and support a diverse community of visitors, artists, and employees.Desired Qualifications:Experience with cashiering duties, including end-of-day reconciliation.Experience with Tessitura ticketing system and/or other ticketing and database software.Museum and/or arts non-profit experience.Interest in museums, arts, and culture.Understanding of Honolulu Museum of Art’s established identity and dedication to advancing it.Welcomes all visitors to the museum in a friendly and professional manner.Checks in and onboards/offboards visitors on private shuttles for tours to Shangri La when necessary.Processes admissions, memberships, Art School courses, tour, film, concern, and museum event and activation tickets into the museum point-of-sale system.Keeps aware of all museum activities in all locations, including Beretania Street, Art School, Robert Allerton Library, Shangri La, and Doris Duke Theater, effectively promoting all museum programs and offerings.Nimbly operating at different areas of the museum, including Phone Lines and Email Operations, Doris Duke Theatre, Robert Allerton Library, and Art School.Maintains accurate knowledge of museum membership levels and benefits, actively promoting membership value to visitors or lapsed members.Responds courteously to all inquiries. Remains calm and composed under all situations. Invites visitors to offer feedback about their experience and records customer service issues and insights.Works effectively with volunteers, greeting and directing them to their check-in points and supervisors for designated assignments.Attends enrichment training sessions as scheduled.Collects accurate survey data when necessary.Assists with museum events as needed.Other duties as assigned.Working Conditions and Atmosphere:The Visitor Engagement Associate works with minimum supervision. Work will often be performed with short deadlines and situations sensitive to the Museum. Regular office hours are required.
