The Ambulatory Surgery Center is an outpatient surgery center that performs 70 to 80% orthopedic cases and a variety of other specialties. The patient population we serve is 6 months of age and above. Experienced candidates are encouraged to apply to this fast-paced efficient surgery center. Monday-Friday day shift hours- no holidays, no weekends, no call!The Surgical Technologist II (operating room scrub technician) sets up sterile field, gathers supplies for surgical cases, based on knowledge of instruments and equipment to be used. This position passes instruments to surgeons during surgery. This position also performs count procedures per policy during surgical cases.The Surgical Technologist II serves as a resource and preceptor to less experienced Surgical Technologists and takes call for routine and high acuity cases after orientation period. This role also learns, performs and completes assignments/responsibilities assigned during the transitional duty period.Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:Certified Surgical Technologist (CST); Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C); or Certified Operating Room and Surgical Technician (CORST) certification required. CST is the preferred certification.Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:Current AHA,BLS,HCP CertificationCurrent CST; TS-C or CORST requiredExperience REQUIRED:Minimum of two (2) years experience as a Surgical TechnologistExperience PREFERRED:N/AEducation/training REQUIRED:High School Diploma or equivalent Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program or a military training program or Licensed Practical Nursing ProgramEducation/training PREFERRED:Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology ProgramIndependent action(s) required:Functions under the direction of RN or independent practitioner in providing direct patient care, emotional support and problem solving, all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policies and procedures. Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor for time/schedule changes, legal issues, direct care which deviates from the standard and identification of educational resources to meet developmental needs.Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable):N/AAdditional position requirements:Surgical Technologists work all three shifts, weekends and holidays. Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with employee’s specific Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator. Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet staffing requirements or in the best interests of the work unit. Takes call for routine or high acuity cases after the orientation period. Age Specific groups served: As appropriate based on transitional duty assignment.Physical Requirements (includes use of assistance devices as appropriate):Physical: Lifting 50-100 lbs. Other: Exposure to potentially hazardous and infectious substances. Activities: Prolonged standing, Prolonged sitting, Frequent bending, Walking (distance), Climbing (steps, ladder, other), Reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Mental/Sensory: Strong recall, Reasoning, Problem solving, Hearing, Speak clearly, Write legibly, Reading, Logical thinking. Emotional: Fast pace environment, Steady pace, Able to handle multiple priorities, Frequent and intense customer interactions, Noisy environment, Able to adapt to frequent change.
