The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a key member of Sprague’s leadership team, oversee the accounting department for Sprague and its parent company (Cambium Endeavors), and report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The CFO role is an integral advisor and business partner for the organization to help align business initiatives and scale for growth.

Essential Functions:LeadershipWork effectively as part of the Senior Management Team, modeling collaboration and contributing to strategies for staff management, communication and acknowledgment.Partner across the organization to understand and define organizational needs in the CFO’s areas of responsibility in support of organizational success.Prepare and present financial, investment, and other critical reports to the board.Develop external relationships with banks, insurance companies, accounting firms, and other partners.Establish effective working relationships at all levels that promote collaboration, flexibility, efficiency, transparency, and respect.Mentor and develop individuals and teams, manage work allocation, provide performance feedback and professional development, and support positive team dynamics.Serve as a trusted advisor to other executive team members on accounting, financial reporting, and other key accounting and controls matters.Continuously develop and coach the team members.Strategic Partnership & ReportingDevelop and execute annual business plans and budgets for Sprague and all related parties.Partner with Senior Management Team and Board to ensure accurate revenue projections and produce financial models.Ensure timely and quality financial information to inform strategic and operational decisions supporting the organization’s programs and fund development teams.Ensure the effective operation of the organization’s financial planning, cash management, banking, and investments.Proactively seek to improve processes and implement best-in-class solutions for scale and maturity.Accountable for enhancing the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the accounting team, including evaluation of appropriate systems, tools and technology to support the organization's growth and complexity.Directs and performs financial reporting including preparation of monthly financial, cash flow, balance sheet, and income statements, statistical schedules and works closely with outside auditors.Responsible for the accurate and timely interpretation of GAAP accounting standards and adoptions.Accounting OversightManage all areas of accounting, both technical and transactional, including revenue, consolidations, tax accounting, monthly closings, quarterly and year-end closings, including account reconciliations, accrual schedules, and general journal entries, ensuring that reconciliations are performed accurately and on time.Contributes to the planning, execution and implementation of the annual budgeting process.Manage planning and execution of the annual financial audit and tax preparation and oversight.Contributes to subject matter as needed for 401(k) plan compliance and audit.Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.Drive the annual budget process and the monthly reporting.Drive effective internal and external communication interactions.Responds to inquiries regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.Assist in developing and implementing new procedures and features to enhance the department's workflow.Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits.Assures and reports out on all covenants.Other duties as assigned.Job Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent.10+ years of progressively responsible experience as a strategic executive leader.Experience serving as the executive responsible for financial and management reporting and the annual financial statement audit.Deep understanding and experience in establishing and successfully implementing internal controls, accounting policies, and financial systems.Demonstrated experience in setting strategy, applying best practices scaling operations and infrastructure for a high growth organization.Proven experience in developing successful relationships and demonstrating intercultural competence with Board members, partners, and colleagues.A proven ability to successfully manage the day-to-day functioning of a department and effectively manage and develop staff.Excellent communicator, both written and verbal, able to communicate complex concepts and risk factors to stakeholders and influence decision making.Experienced business partner, skilled in building trust and inspiring others while delivering strong service to colleagues.Ability and aptitude with Microsoft Office Suite and other technology necessary for successful day-to-day functioning in a business environment.Ability to pass background screening requirements, including identity, education, credit, and criminal history checksPreferred Qualifications:MBA or similar graduate level degree in accounting or finance, and;CPA or CMA
