Overview

We are seeking a full-time

Senior Software Certification Engineer

in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for providing leadership and planning for software certification tasks carried out by the Aviation SQA/Support team including document creation, software process auditing, and potentially data approval, in support of TSO authorization of product.

Essential FunctionsLeads efforts to ensure life cycle data is compliant with RTCA DO-178B/DO-178C requirements, including the successful closure of SQA audits and completion of required documents.Partners with software development teams to promote software improvement based on root cause analysis and facilitate communication of results to management.Analyzes software issues and errors for root cause in the areas of source code analysis, requirements, testing, or processes.Suggests, defines, and documents new or improved processes for software quality assurance.Participates in and supports internal/external quality or certification audits, including presentation of information during audits.Contributes to the response and resolution of issues discovered during audits.Makes substantial contributions to the certification of software products.May approve software life cycle data for compliance to RTCA DO-178B/DO-178C, in support of product TSOAs or conformities.Provides technical input to certification plan and completion documents.Provides reliable solutions to a wide range of difficult problems including evaluation of new technologies to improve existing functions.Basic QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related field

AND

a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience.Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule).Demonstrated proven track record in successfully executing projects of any scale or complexity.Must be positive, detail-oriented, organized, team-oriented, and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Desired QualificationsOutstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5).Demonstrated proficient knowledge of Garmin product lines, customers, processes, and procedures.Demonstrated proficient understanding of RTCA DO-178B/DO-178C process and working knowledge of other regulatory guidance for aviation software.Experience in Software DER for RTCA DO-178B/DO-178C or equivalent role in TSO compliance finding for software.Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
