The New York Red Bulls are one of 29 teams in Major League Soccer (MLS). RBNY, one of the ten charter clubs of MLS, have competed in the league since its founding in 1996. The Red Bulls play home matches at Red Bull Arena (RBA) in Harrison, New Jersey. The three-time MLS Supporters’ Shield Winners are owned by the Austrian beverage company Red Bull for which the team is named. The New York Red Bulls offer one of the nation’s premier youth soccer development programs, from local soccer partnerships across New York and New Jersey to Regional Development Schools and the Red Bulls Academy teams.Coordinate, develop and implement a best in class soccer club medical across all teams and age groups. Ensure the medical department has a clear vision, mission and KPIs that align all the staff and their expectation to the Clubs player development and team performance targets. Coordinate a comprehensive support and training structure/philosophy for medical staff across the 1st team, RBII and the Academy, which delivers the departments aims and objectives via engaging and promoting staff skills, knowledge, and department processes.Lead the medical departments in ‘big picture’ club projects where medicine input is needed across the 1st team, RBII and the Academy.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESAssessment and management of injuries for players at all levels but primarily 1st team.On-going injury prevention strategies of all assigned players.Treatment and rehab sessions in the gym and on the pitch.Presence at all training, occasionally at matches.Manage and support medical departments across 1st team, RBII and AcademyCoordinate the internal doctors services, external medical provision (HSS/Hackensack) for all NYRB players.Ensure all new full-time players undergo a pre-signing medical before contracts are signed.Return-to-play protocols instituted from gym to field.Complete documentation in the internal software system in relation to player care and legal requirements.Hold sufficient Professional Liability Insurance appropriate for working with elite soccer players.Ensuring appropriate recording of all medical and assessment data in a club wide accessible system.Direct reporting of all pertinent updates to the Sporting Director, Head Coach and General manager.CLINICAL DELIVERYProvide clinical service expertise for players of all levels but primarily the 1st team. Continue to develop medical team process and pathways (evidence-based injury prevention, assessment, imaging, diagnosis, prognosis and return to performance pathways) in order to be best in class by demonstrating impact of medical team impact. This may include travel to appointments and matchdays.In co-coordination with Head of Sport, Sporting Director, and scouting department, ensure all new FT players undergo a pre-signing medical before contracts are signed. The pre-signing medical must include as a minimum MLS mandated assessments and screening protocols.Co-ordinate the internal Doctors services and external medical provision (HSS/Hackensack) across the 1st team RBII and the Academy to ensure all players medical requirements and mandated screening are delivered on time and within budget.Be responsible for compliance of sports medicine and medical rules and regulations from all appropriate regulatory bodies. This includes staff qualification, medical notes, insurances, and other required technical competencies.CLUB WIDE PROJECTSEnsure the medical departments has clear vision, mission and KPIs that align all the staff and their expectation to the Clubs player development and team performance targets.Together with department managers, ensure individual development plans for each staff member to aligned to the needs and direction of the department.Ensure the appropriate support is available to ensure the staff and department are working in an aligned and focused way. This applies for 1st team, RB2 and Academy staff.Lead role in planning and input for training facility and staffing structure across medicine department.Lead, support and manage the negotiation and installation of Club wide medical technologies, including Kinexon, APHub, Vald, Game On, New Training Complex. Support all 3rd party companies involved in these projects.Coordinate, contribute & ensure robust player data collection processes, comprehensive analytics, and objective conclusions, to drive the department processes, maintain latest industry knowledge and provide key strategic information for appropriate members of the business.Using robust data, provide daily, weekly, monthly reports to the Head of Sport, Sporting Director, Academy Director & other key staff groups and individuals regarding KPI’s of department.To support Red Bull soccer strategies to align to Red Bull Soccer, APHub and Athlete Performance Centers.Responsible for both individual health & safety and that of those who you are responsible for.Ensure the relationship with children and adults at risk is appropriate and language, behavior and demeanor is suitable. The Company will expect you to undertake training to ensure an understanding of best practice in relation to Children and/or adults at risk.ESSENTIALPhysiotherapist / Physical Therapist qualifiedDeep experience in elite sport as a clinical support and / or department manager (>8 years)Trauma and first aid trained, as a minimum to MLS mandated levelsMaster’s degree or higher in related healthcare fieldFull clean driving LicenseJersey state registered PT license or ability to registerDESIRABLENATABOC (or CATA) Certified Athletic Trainer/TherapistCSCS certified or international equivalentPrevious experience in managing a medical department with responsibilities of junior staff development, managing finances and continued enhancement of service delivery processes
