We are seeking a Head of Safety to lead Grindr’s work to keep our community safe from bad actors and inappropriate content, ensure we’re proactively using best practices and the best technologies to protect and serve our users, and maintain compliance with applicable legal requirements and industry standards.

This is a hugely impactful and critical role for our users and our business. As an app that often facilitates in-person interactions, safety is a unique and important consideration for us. This is especially apparent as nearly 80% of our users live outside the US, including 64 countries in which it is illegal to be LGBTQ+.

As our Head of Safety, you will drive strategy and execution to prevent and address issues related to harassment, abuse, and inappropriate content on our platform. You will utilize your leadership and expertise in Trust & Safety policy and moderation operations to promote our mission of connecting the LGBTQ+ community and keeping them safe. This is a highly visible role within our organization cross functionally and externally; you will be recognized as the expert in safety and a key representative for Grindr. What’s the job?

Manage Safety Standards Definition:

Own and evolve Grindr’s safety standards in partnership with our Legal and Privacy teams and other key stakeholders.

Safety Ops & Tech Strategy and Execution:

Develop & implement, with a highly cross-functional team, a global strategy to uphold these safety standards across operations/moderation, technology (including AI/ML systems), data, and product.

External Representation:

Represent the company publicly on T&S matters and engage with a wide range of external stakeholders including law enforcement, legislators and regulators, industry associations and peers, non-profit organizations, and business partners.

Integrity of Accounts/User Activity:

Lead efforts to maximize the elimination of fake accounts, spam, illegal activity and bad conduct on the platform.

Regulatory Assessment:

Partner with Legal & Privacy as needed on regulatory matters, including the evaluation of and participation in consultations and legislative impact assessments.

Performance Monitoring:

Define & report on key performance indicators via regular audits and assessments, to identify and mitigate potential safety risks to our users and our business.

Industry Monitoring:

Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices to continually enhance user safety.

Crisis Management:

Prepare for and respond to crises that impact user trust and safety, in collaboration with our Legal, Comms, and Investor Relations teams.

User Education:

Working with Product, user research, and Grindr for Equality, help educate users globally about safe practices on the platform.

maintain anonymity .

Having a

zero tolerance policy on minors

being on the platform.

Combating child sexual exploitation

and preventing any such content on the platform.

Enforcing anti-solicitation

and

anti-harassment

rules.

Eliminate

fake accounts, spam, illegal activity and bad conduct on the platform.

What we'll love about you

7-10 years of experience as a Trust & Safety leader in a global social platform, DTC company, or alike.

Prior experience implementing new policies, products and processes to enhance Trust & Safety for Grindr users.

Experience developing strategies for operational improvements and efficiency gains, while supporting a diverse and large global consumer base.

In-depth knowledge of online safety issues, policies, and best practices especially when balancing the issues with competing internal and external priorities.

Experience working with international issues across multiple geographies, including areas of freedom of expression, prevention of minors accessing platforms meant for adults, and user generated content.

Demonstrated experience with content moderation.

Strong people management skills with prior experience leading a high performing team.

Excellent verbal and written communication, with prior experience as a recognized spokesperson for Trust & Safety issues.

Strong analytical skills, including working with large data sets to identify and solve business problems.

Strong XFN relationship management skills, including the ability to influence and drive consensus among senior leadership.
