Group Leader Before and After School Care

Before and After School Care Staff - Glen Haven Elementary School - Silver Spring MD
Here's what you'll need:
High school diploma, certificate of high school equivalency OR
Successful completion of at least 6 credits from an accredited college or university
AND 1 year of experience working with children in an approved setting, (registered child care home, licensed child care center, nursery school, church operated school, or similar setting) OR 1 year of experience as a registered family child care provider OR
1 year of college (30 semester hours); you will have to complete a work verification paper that is completed by their past employer
OR a combination of experience and college that equals 1 year.
If not certified but have experience/college, we provide training certification of 45 hours in school age and 45 hours in growth and development for promotion to Group Leader at no cost. Must complete in 6-7 weeks.
In addition, you will need:
90 Hour Certificate in School Age Development and Curriculum
Medication Administration Certificate
Emergency Preparedness Certificate
Ability to motivate and engage children and manage behavioral challenges
Serves as a positive role model; must be enthusiastic, energetic, creative, and sensitive to children
Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet program staffing needs
Good judgment and sound decision-making
Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children

At AlphaBest, our students are filled with curiosity and wonder! As their guide, you'll help lead them through fun learning activities, with plenty of support and training.
Location:
Glen Haven Elementary School, 10900 Inwood Avenue, Wheaton-Glenmont MD 20902
Schedule:
No weekends! Part-time Morning Care 6:15 am - 9:00 am; Afternoon Care 3:00 pm - 6:30 pm.
Pay & Benefits:
$18.00/hour
Part-time benefits including health available

As an AlphaBEST Assistant Guide, you'll be trained to do the following:
Assist AlphaBEST Guides as they lead a group of student explorers through exciting adventures in fitness, the arts, technology, and more!
Have fun!
Work collaboratively with peers to ignite children's sense of wonder
Encourage creativity and intellectual curiosity by building on students' interests and talents
Provide a caring, family-oriented environment where positive staff, child, and parent relationships are fostered.
