The mission of Mid-State Health Center is to provide sound primary care to the community, accessible to all regardless of their ability to pay.GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Radiology CT Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures using computed tomography (CT) equipment. This position requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to provide compassionate patient care. The Radiology CT Technologist works closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality imaging services.SUPERVISION RECEIVED : Imaging Services ManagerSUPERVISION EXCERCISED : NonePATIENT CARE:Prepare patients for CT scans by explaining the procedure, obtaining relevant medical history, and answering any questions.Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the imaging process.Assist in positioning patients accurately to achieve optimal imaging results while minimizing radiation exposure.TECHNICAL DUTIES:Operate CT equipment to perform diagnostic imaging procedures.Select appropriate imaging techniques and protocols based on patient needs and clinical indications.Ensure proper functioning of CT equipment, performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting as necessary.Adjust equipment and controls according to specific orders, as well as the physical and anatomical characteristics of the patient.QUALITY CONTROL:Review and evaluate CT images for technical quality, accuracy, and appropriateness of the procedure.Ensure all images are properly labeled and documented.Collaborate with radiologists to ensure accurate interpretation of images.DOCUMENTATION and RECORD KEEPING:Maintain accurate patient records, including information about the procedure, patient reactions, and any other relevant details.Follow hospital and departmental protocols for documentation and reporting.SAFETY and COMPLIANCE:Adhere to all safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and self.Stay current with all continuing education requirements and licensure/certification renewals.Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting body standards.COLLABORATION and COMMUNICATION:Work closely with radiologists, other technologists, and healthcare staff to provide coordinated and efficient patient care.Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.EDUCATION:Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or related field.LICENSE/ CERTIFICATION:Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).Advanced certification in CT (CT) from the ARRT.IV certification preferredState Licensure as requiredBasic Life Support (BLS) certificationEXPERIENCE:Previous experience as a CT Technologist preferred, but new graduates with clinical training will be considered.SKILLS and APTITUDES:Proficiency in operating CT equipment and performing imaging procedures.Strong understanding of cross-sectional anatomy, radiation safety, and imaging protocols.Strong patient care and communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.Ability to handle stressful situations and respond to emergencies effectively.PHYSICAL DEMANDS :Ability to lift and move patients and equipment.Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate MRI equipment and evaluate images.Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.May require prolonged periods of standing, reaching and bending to move patients and heavy equipment.Ability to respond quickly to emergency situationsMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds at timesENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is performed in an outpatient imaging center environment.Exposure to radiation and infectious diseases, requiring adherence to safety protocols.Variable work hours, including some evenings & weekends as needed.May require standing for extended periods and assisting patients with mobility.Exposure to magnetic fields and potential allergens such as contrast agents.Must adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate protective equipment as required.Work is performed in a professional office environment.Involves frequent telephone contact and interaction with others.May involve contact with sick people.EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER:Our imaging center is an equal opportunity employer.
