We are looking for an experienced Backend Software Engineer, Senior Staff level, to join our Cargo team composed of everyone from deep-learning to econometrics experts. This hybrid position is based at our San Francisco office. You are a highly curious, detail-oriented, independent data and analytics expert with the engineering skills and expertise to integrate Machine Learning models and data pipelines into production. You thrive on building data solutions and analytics tools, drawing actionable conclusions and digging deeper to uncover trends that will improve our machine learning systems. You are a highly competent communicator towards both technical and non-technical audiences. If you’re happiest learning new, challenging domains, then come join our team at FLYR.You will be joining a dedicated team of Data Scientists, Data Analysts, Machine Learning Engineers and Data Engineers responsible for the development of ML and Deep Learning models, novel performance metrics, and the creation of data models and pipelines that fuel that effort. The primary objective of the team is producing innovative revenue metrics that distinguish great models from merely good ones. In addition, you will be creating new analytics tools to automate reporting and validation of results that will allow FLYR to decide where we should invest more time and attention in our algorithms.What Your Journey Will Look Like (Responsibilities)

Build a greenfield product offering on FLYR’s platform, in order to disrupt the airline industry's pricing and distribution problems.Develop a robust and scalable backend for enterprise line of business applications in Python, BigQuery, Docker, Kubernetes, Vertex AI, and more.Design and implement algorithms to efficiently process, analyze, and serve massive datasets in response to real-time requests.Think in patterns and quickly evaluate and make decisions regarding products, frameworks, platforms, API's, and other technologies.Provide technical expertise and leadership in the design, development, and delivery of products, while adhering to coding standards, requirements, and quality.Make accurate estimates for upcoming work, communicate technical solutions effectively, and report progress.Work in a product-focused scrum team to deliver against a roadmap managed by a dedicated product owner.Collaborate with Technical Product Owners to design and deliver complex application features, end-user workflows, and external integration interfaces.Participate in stand-ups, bug triages, retrospectives, and other team meetings.Be a technical thought-leader and mentor to constantly improve how we work. Senior members of our engineering organization have the ability to mentor and guide new members, grow the engineering-excellence culture, and influence the larger engineering organization.What To Pack For This Trip (Qualifications)

7+ years of proven software development experience in a popular object-oriented or functional programming language – Python (+1), Go, C/C++, Java, Javascript, etc.5+ years of relevant experience in a Data Science or ML Engineering role.10-12+ years software engineering–development experience required.Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide new members, grow the engineering-excellence culture, and influence the larger engineering organizations.Strong communicator and have experience collaborating across multiple teams and external partners.Solid computer science foundation including data structures, algorithms, and design patterns, with a proven track record of software design and architecture.Familiarity with SQL / NoSQL storage, and their strengths and weaknesses (PostgreSQL, Redis).Solid grounding in version control and experience working with a team using Git.Understanding of development best practices and standards (behavior-driven development, coding standards, etc).Strong quantitative background (Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Economics, or other related fields).Progressive career experience as a software developer in a backend engineering role.Ability to communicate complex topics to multiple audiences in order to help create a common roadmap between stakeholders.Optional Carry-On (Preferred Qualifications)

Experienced using Python and tools such as Apache Beam, Tensorflow, Tensorflow extended and ML platforms tools like Vertex AI or Amazon SageMaker.Experienced with Cloud platforms (GCP/AWS), Security, and Observability.Familiarity with modern CI/CD and cloud-based containerized development.Advanced skills in data manipulation (SQL, Pandas, Spark) and experienced with various ML tools in production (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras, Kubeflow, XGBoost).Past engineering experience with data-intensive systems and data-driven products.Experience with data warehouses and data processing frameworks.First-Class Amenities
