(CSA) is a marine consulting firm that provides a broad range of environmental, coastal, and oceanographic services in the US and internationally since 1970. We are seeking a self-starting, professional scientist ready to engage in a fast-paced, complex, applied science role in the private sector. This person will be expected to provide customized, competitive, and high-quality consulting support to industry, government, and various private sector clients in a highly efficient manner while also adhering to the robust standards of a research scientist. This position will be based out of either the corporate headquarters in Stuart, FL or our regional office in East Greenwich, RI.Position Summary:

The successful applicant will be involved in all aspects of CSA projects including (but not limited to) participating or leading field surveys, equipment maintenance, small boat operations, data management and analysis, scientific reporting, contributing to proposal writing, project support, and client interaction. An understanding of field sampling in the marine environment with sample handling and analysis skills is recommended. The successful applicant must have strong organizational and teamwork skills. This position requires periodic domestic and international travel, often at short notice and on weekends, during all times of the year, during both daytime and nighttime shifts when at sea, and potentially for prolonged periods (several weeks).Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Supporting the quality, validity, and accuracy of project science;Participation in nearshore and offshore sampling surveys, potentially international and sometimes with prolonged deployment, often at sea both day and night;Assist with data collection by conducting field surveys including measurements, recording data, and collecting quantitative video and still photographs;Assisting in data analysis and preparation of technical reports and proposals;Contributing to the maintenance of positive client interactions;Adhering to company standards and procedures for data collection, quality control, and health, safety, security, and the environment (HSSE);Being accountable and responsible for personal safety and safety of others;Attending safety meetings and satisfactory completion of assigned training and safety meetings as applicable; andOther duties as assigned.Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

B.Sc. in life sciences, especially marine science, biology and ecology or a related field;Experience with environmental sampling equipment;Experience in working from vessels, preferably offshore vessels;Demonstrated ability to work independently but also as part of a close-knit team;Excellent organization, written, and oral communication skills;Strong working knowledge of computers and standard Microsoft software packages including word processing skills; andPossession of a valid US Driver’s license.Preferred Skills and Experience:

Experience in vessel mobilization, demobilization, launch and recovery, trailering, operation, handling, and navigation;Experience with analytical and statistical methods and packages (e.g., R, Excel);First Aid, CPR, and O2 administration certifications;Previous health, safety, and/or environmental hazard training;Understanding of data integration using Geographic Information Systems (GIS);Experience supporting the development of (successful) scientific funding proposals;
