We are seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist who enjoys the challenge of ensuring a safe and compliant work environment for our employees, partners and customer. Our infrastructure consists of a blend of classic and modern industrial assets and requires a person broad industrial and utilities background. The EHS Specialist at RED-Rochester will be responsible for implementing and overseeing the Environmental, Health, and Safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. The role involves developing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal environmental and occupational health and safety regulations, as well as instructing and advising others; managing up and down the organization; and working collaboratively with other departments to achieve success.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Monitor environmental impact, including waste management and pollution control.Ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulations.Specifically (but not limited to):

Title-V Air Permits and requirementsRCRA/Hazardous Waste Generator RequirementsSPDES Permits and requirements.Chemical and Petroleum Bulk Storage requirements

Safety Compliance:

Ensure compliance with safety programs and regulations.Specifically (but not limited to):

Lock Out/Tag OutConfined SpaceElectrical Safety/NFPA 70EFall Protection

Policy Development and Implementation:

Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures.Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety and environmental regulations.

Risk Assessment and Management:

Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments.Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.

Training and Awareness:

Conduct EHS training sessions for employees.Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the organization.

Incident Investigation and Reporting:

Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes.Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies.

Emergency Response:

Develop and maintain emergency response plans.Coordinate drills and exercises to ensure preparedness.

Record Keeping and Documentation:

Maintain accurate EHS records and documentation.Prepare reports and metrics to track EHS performance.

Stay updated on new EHS regulations and best practices.Recommend improvements to EHS programs.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.Professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH) is preferred.Minimum of 5 years’ experience in EHS roles, preferably in an industrial or utility setting.Skills and Abilities:Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and standards.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to conduct training and presentations.Analytical skills for risk assessment and problem-solving.Proficiency in EHS management systems and software.Working Conditions:The role will require exposure to Industrial environments, requiring the use of personal protective equipment.Flexibility to respond to urgent EHS matters outside of standard working hours.Physical demands:

While performing duties of job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.
