This position is responsible for the development & implementation of programs that comply with federal, state and local EH&S regulations. Will manage the complete EH&S programs for the Oxford, NC facility in accordance with the ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards, to minimize all EH&S risks and reduce potential liabilities. The incumbent will be responsible for regulatory and company environmental compliance activity and facilitating the site Environmental Management System (EMS) in accordance with the ISO 14001 standard. Requires strong leadership skills and works closely with the Plant Supervisors, Department Managers, and the employees to provide the proper training and guidance for compliance to all governmental regulations and facility policies as well as driving the company’s environmental goals and objectives. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.Responsibilities

Provide site-wide leadership for all facets of Health and Safety.Maintain and update Corrective & Preventive Action, Objectives & Program and Performance Measurement & Monitoring Logs.Enter and maintain all plant safety statistics data in the Reporting system.Compile and submit agency reporting and maintain safety, health & environmental files and records.Schedule internal audits and maintain internal audit schedule & internal audit tracking log.Implement the Annual EH&S Action Plan as well as Corporate mandated plans and various compliance programs.Facilitate the monthly Central EH&S meetings, Contractor EH&S orientation, and Visitor EH&S Orientation.Stay current on all corporate, local, state, and federal H&S regulations and keep informed of all upcoming regulations and their effect upon the facility.Formulate general safety policies and procedures to be followed by plant personnel in compliance with corporate, local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.Assist in identification, analysis, and control of occupational hazards requiring the application of professional engineering knowledge, skill, and abilities.Facilitate inspection of facility to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards and recommend corrective or preventive measures where appropriate.Interact with agency contacts & lead on-site visits or inspections from EHS regulatory personnel.Maintain EPA records of hazardous waste, air emission permitting, and water pollution discharge, as well as industrial health monitoring and records of employee hazard exposure according to OSHA regulations.Involve in capital projects to ensure environmental aspects and impacts are analyzed before implementation into the plant or production environment.Assist in GAPS property insurance inspections, managing all required corrections.Perform audits in environmental, health, and safety policies and practices - 20 Step Auditor.Coordinate and/or conduct training for facility personnel concerning EH&S matters.Promote the maintenance of a safe, accident-free, and healthy work environment.Participate in the development, understanding, and review of all position JSA and SOPs to ensure environmental impacts are analyzed.Organize, develop, and facilitate the plant's annual offsite EH&S Conference.Required Qualifications

What do you bring?Bachelor of Science Degree – Engineering (Environmental Engineering preferred).Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in environmental engineering, environmental chemistry, or occupational health, safety, and environmental science in an industrial manufacturing environment.Necessary skills to manage all aspects of high-level projects in manufacturing environments.Knowledge and application experience within R&D and pilot scale operations along with hazardous waste profiling, training in environmental chemistry, and certification as a PE or HMM is a plus.Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local environmental/safety regulations is required.Ability to solve problems and achieve goals with minimal supervision.Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are a must.Previous supervisory experience is desired.Excellent team player with the ability to motivate a team and facilitate improvement.Strong computer skills with a focus on Microsoft Office applications.Background in statistical methods, Six-Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing a plus.Come be a part of our bigger purpose to change the world!Legal Statement
