Postdoctoral Research Position with Fieldwork in South Pacific

Colorado State University seeks a postdoctoral research fellow to join a social science project examining the role of philanthropic foundations in environmental governance. The project focuses specifically on marine conservation governance in the Pacific Islands and will include fieldwork in Fiji and Palau as well as at foundation offices in the U.S. The project embraces academic and applied objectives and offers a unique opportunity to advance both scholarship and practice.Project PIs are Drs. Rebecca Gruby (Department of Human Dimensions of Natural Resources, CSU), Michele Betsill (Department of Political Science, CSU), and Xavier Basurto (Duke University). The fellow will be an integral member of our research team and will contribute substantively to all aspects of project design and implementation, including international fieldwork, publications, and science/policy translation.The postdoctoral fellow will be selected in the Fall of 2017, and work will begin in January 2018. Although the fellow will collaborate with all co-PIs, the fellow will be based in the Department of Human Dimensions of Natural Resources at Colorado State University, with Dr. Rebecca Gruby serving as lead mentor. This is a full-time 12-month position with a salary of $50,000/year plus benefits.The position will be initially contracted for 1 year. The position will be reviewed annually and, contingent upon performance and on available funds, will be appointed for two additional years for a total of 3 years.To apply and view a complete position description, click here.
