We’re looking for Utility Locators to join our team and help connect America.What you’ll do… (essential functions)Use a laptop computer or other devices to receive, document, and close out excavation notices, both during normal hours and after hoursRead and interpret utility maps/prints to identify the type and size of underground utilitiesUse assigned communication equipment to effectively communicate with excavators, utility reps, and company personnel regarding underground facilitiesOperate different electronic detection equipment to locate and mark underground facilities within prescribed accuracy limitsPerform light excavation with a shovel to expose buried utilities when necessaryProvide accurate documentation and sketches related to all locates completedReceive and respond to excavation notices during normal and after hours in accordance with established time requirementsOperate company vehicles in a safe manner and maintain a professional appearanceBe able to perform manhole entry using assigned equipment and safety devicesPerform work in all weather conditions, during normal and after hoursRegular use of hands and fingers to operate specialized equipment and toolsReaching overhead above the shoulders and horizontally; bending at the waist; standing and/or walking for extended periods of timeAbility to carry 3-5 lbs electronic locating equipment for extended periods of time; lifting objects up to 50 pounds or lifting in excess of 50 lbs with tool aidsHearing and speaking to exchange informationThe employee shall follow all safety rules at all timesWill need to have the ability to work a flexible schedule (some evenings and weekends) as ticket/production load requiresEmployee will respond to emergency calls during scheduled on-call shift rotation
Who we are looking for... (required skills for success)You are at least 18 years oldYou are authorized to work in the United States for this companyHigh School Diploma, GED equivalent, relevant work experience, or a combination of education and work experience preferredValid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional), including an MVR record that is deemed acceptable by the companyMust be able to pass pre-employment requirementsProficient in the use of hand tools and equipment (shovels, screwdrivers, wrenches, and ped keys etc.)Ability to carry 3-5 lbs electronic locating equipment for extended periods of time; lifting objects up to 50 pounds or lifting in excess of 50 lbs with tool aidsTransferable or related skills for this role:
Maintenance, Technician, route driver, meter reading, landscaping, working outdoors, pest control, surveying, military, ready to work, underground utility locating, construction, and laborer.
