Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Quality Manager 2 to lead Quality Engineering and Product Assurance teams in support of Tactical Space Systems Division operations, located in Gilbert, Arizona. The manager should be knowledgeable in aerospace and/or space quality and mission assurance processes and requirements. As a key leader, partner and essential member of the Quality and Mission Assurance leadership team in the Tactical Space Systems Division (TSSD), the Quality Manager 2 will lead a high performing team of quality engineers, quality analysts and inspection personnel to support company operations and achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.
Role and Responsibilities:
Leads collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Integration and Test, Supplier Performance Management/Supplier Quality and Global Supply Chain to ensure quality is inherent in every requirement, design, work product, and end-product delivered by Northrop Grumman
Mentor and develop direct reports, including managers, who engage on the shop floor and in work activities to provide direct support as needed while additionally coaching and mentoring facility personnel in quality methods and procedures
Frequently collaborate with directors, cross-functional leaders and customer representatives, including on-site DCMA representatives, concerning projects, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, and contractual clarifications
Promotes the professional development of the quality workforce and fosters a collaborative culture that sustains the momentum around employee engagement and inclusion, affordability, innovation, value growth and continuous improvement
Assures compliance in program quality, risk management, safety, process improvement, configuration and data management in accordance with contractual requirements
Monitors operating unit quality metrics, corrective action boards, and program audit / performance metrics and processes
Demonstrates comprehensive understanding in metrics, customer, and employee feedback to assess program and work center quality performance and risks
Supervises the proper implementation and execution of continuous improvement programs and preventative action efforts
Ensures policies, procedures, and processes are in place to assure the performance and quality of products with conformance to established standards, specifications and customer requirements
Leads root cause and corrective action analyses (RCCA) and failure investigations for high impact issues and teaches/coaches/mentors personnel in use of RCCA
Leads efforts to identify and mitigate quality and performance risks using advanced product quality planning (APQP) methods, FMEAs, and early design and supplier engagement
Establishes and manages performance metrics to facilitate continuous improvement activities
Ensures compliance with the Quality Management System through execution of internal surveillances and audits
Management representative for third party and customer audits
Develops and operates within departmental budgets for indirect costs and overhead
Provides guidance and mentoring to direct reports based on goals, objectives, and company policy
Provides performance reviews and periodic feedback for all direct reports
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field AND at least 9 years related work experience or equivalent additional experience, or Master’s Degree plus at least 7 years related work experience
5 or more years of leadership / supervisory or lead experience, with strong people leadership skills
U.S. citizen
Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD security clearance
Experience with ISO 9001 or AS9100 based quality management systems
Experience conducting and managing internal audits
Experience with trend data development and analysis and key characteristics
Failure review board experience
Contract / requirements compliance and auditing experience
Extensive prior work experience in the application of quality principles and practices (e.g., quality engineering, inspection, material review, etc.) related to the engineering and manufacture of Space products
Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline
Excellent oral and written communication, data analysis and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Tool suite (i.e.: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
Ability to successfully engage at all levels of the organization, from the shop floor to executive leadership, to provide solutions and coach and mentor others in the use of quality principles and practices.
Experience with Earned Value Management.
Ability to document, plan and manage projects
Demonstrated problems solving skills in a manufacturing and test environment
Experience applying advanced product quality planning and mission assurance practices (e.g., risk reduction, system engineering principles, and full life cycle product support)
Demonstrated ability to work with minimal oversight and in a multi-discipline team environment, providing insight and solutions to complicated technical issues
Demonstrated experience in acquiring, developing, and leading teams of professional employees
Able to work and lead effectively in a team setting
Proven ability to lead a large and diverse group, establish clear expectations and inspire commitment, forming teams, value diversity and put people first
Experience with supplier quality and U.S. Government contracts
Expertise in Earned Value Management
Prior satellite, launch system, or propulsion systems experience
Experience with geographically diverse teams

Salary Range:
$108,000 - $135,000
