Direct HireJob Description:Our client is seeking a Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer who will design and optimize optical and opto-mechanical systems for advanced medical devices.Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):Design and test opto-mechanical systems for new and existing medical devices, ensuring alignment with project goals and regulatory requirements.Develop and optimize fiber optic delivery systems and alignment fixtures to enhance system performance and reliability.Conduct rigorous performance measurements on laser systems, including beam profile, energy stability, pulse width, wavelength, and beam propagation.Perform life testing on opto-mechanical systems and sub-assemblies to validate durability and reliability.Provide technical feedback on opto-mechanical designs based on testing results and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement improvements.Support the development of new subsystems for laser-based medical devices, including writing assembly procedures and assisting in pilot builds.Contribute to engineering change processes by identifying design enhancements and resolving issues to improve product performance.Participate in design reviews, offering critical insights and recommendations related to opto-mechanical assemblies.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Physics or related field with hands-on research experience involving laser-based light sources (Ph.D. is preferred).8+ years of experience in opto-mechanical engineering within a medical device environment, with a strong background in product development and hardware systems.Proficiency in opto-mechanical and laser systems; familiarity with ZEMAX is advantageous.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of resolving complex technical challenges.Project management skills are highly desirable.Familiarity with FDA regulations and standards for Class II medical devices, ensuring compliance with internal quality requirements.Make this your next career move as one of our many long-term contractors or employees!Come see why DPC has achieved:4.9/5 Star Glassdoor rating and the only staffing company ( Voted ‘Best Staffing Firm to Temp/Contract For’ six times by Staffing Industry Analysts as well as a ‘Best Company to Work For’ by Forbes, Fortune and Inc. magazine.
