Join UAF's Community and Technical College as a Term Assistant Professor of Welding Technology. At UAF CTC, our mission is driven by community education, focusing on workforce development, academic preparation, and lifelong learning. The ideal candidate will teach welding courses and a variety of welding methods, provide academic advising, and develop and implement an innovative new curriculum to help meet the growing demands of skilled welders in Alaska. This position is a traveling faculty role and will service various communities within Alaska, supporting the University of Alaska Fairbanks CTC's dual commitment to teaching excellence and community engagement.

This unique position offers the opportunity to travel, explore Alaska, and make a significant impact by educating students in the welding trade. Our commitment to innovation is demonstrated by the recent introduction of Virtual Reality welding hoods, a groundbreaking advancement in welding education designed to enhance the learning experience and bolster students' understanding and skills before they undertake hands-on welding activities. Candidates should have a journeyman status or equivalent in welding, with formal training or extensive on-the-job experience in SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW. Demonstrating hands-on welding skills before employment is crucial. Strong teaching abilities and a dedication to student success are essential, along with the ability to contribute to curriculum development, academic advising, and program enhancement. A collaborative mindset, flexibility in teaching schedules, and a passion for both travel and education are vital attributes for excelling in this dynamic role.

Minimum Qualifications:

Formal training leading to welding certificates or equivalent on-the-job training in GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, and oxy-acetylene welding/cutting.

A valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria is required.

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAF Community and Technical College campus in Fairbanks, and work is performed on-site. The position is based in Fairbanks, although will require frequent travel to and from various UAF CTC rural campuses. This is a full-time, exempt term faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and

full employee benefits package . Faculty salaries are based on a variety of factors, including education and experience.
