Job Title: GIS Technician 2 Company: Southern Gas (A Southern Company) Department: GIS and Asset Data Location: Atlanta, Georgia (Hybrid) Schedule: Hybrid - flexible to work remotely and in-office. Must live within commuting distance to Atlanta, GA for occasional meetings, trainings, etc. taking place in the office. Work may become mostly remote after training period is complete. Estimated Duration of Assignment: 3 years GIS Technician 2 Job DescriptionThe GIS Technician 2 is responsible for managing geodatabases, georeferencing, and spatial and attribute data entry and editing, as well as input, processing, and maintenance of Southern Gas lines and equipment assets in an ESRI GIS database. Requirements:Bachelors Degree in GIS, Geography, Geographic Sciences, Geosciences, Engineering, Resource Mapping, Computer Science, or related field. 2-5 years of professional level GIS experience supporting a utility (preferably gas). Thorough understanding of Esri suite of products. Working knowledge of geodatabases, georeferencing and spatial and attribute data entry and editing. Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and recommend the best track for data development and processing. Passionate about leveraging geospatial technology and data-driven solutions. Ability to quickly learn new skills and abilities with database technologies, data modeling, and scripting. Ability to function independently and as a team member. Ability to handle multiple assignments and changing priorities. Ability to work effectively with limited direct supervision. Nice to have:GIS Certification Experience publishing with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online for ArcGIS, including data versioning, multiuser environments, and automated replication. Experience with development and deployment of field GPS and data collection systems including Esri mobile applications. Experience converting data between CAD and GIS. Proficiency with linear referencing techniques and concepts. FME software experience. Utility Pipeline Data Model (UPDM) and utility network experience. Laserfiche or other document/content management system experience. Model Builder Python Note: This position allows a flexible hybrid and remote schedule with occasional in-office time for meetings, trainings, etc. Work may become mostly remote after training phase is complete. Must live within commuting distance to Atlanta, GA.
