This position requires fluency in all aspects of the new product development process, working with small teams, and the ability to take the technical lead on mechanical engineering aspects of the project. Based on the range of mechanical designs conducted at Boston Engineering, breadth across various mechanical engineering areas is desired.In this role, you will:Lead new product development from requirements through the successful introduction to manufacturingGuide and contribute to mechanical system design on multi-disciplinary development projectsSolve problems by employing expertise in creative and effective ways, including ideation and iterative concept development and testingProvide leadership and mentorship to other engineers; plan, organize, and prioritize your work and the work of others to meet deadlinesGenerate mechanical designs of electromechanical products for low, mid, and high-volume productionDevelop appropriate techniques for breadboards, proof of principle units, and prototypes as part of the new product development processSupport the preparation of proposals and develop estimates for new business opportunitiesUnderstand and practice the job role within our quality management system as trainedLocation : Office-based role in Waltham, MAIf this sounds like the right challenge for you, apply today!Minimum Requirements:Minimum of a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering plus 10+ years of product development experienceExpertise in MCAD, preferably in Creo and/or SolidWorksExpertise in the use of engineering analysis tools in product development, including CFD and FEAExperience in the development of products that include software, electrical, and mechanical designDemonstrated experience in new product development programs, bringing new products and new technologies successfully to marketDemonstrated experience in DFM, DFA, and design for cost and reliabilityExperience in prototyping and rapid prototyping techniquesExperience in product plastic part design, sheet metal and stamping design, and high-precision design of electromechanical systemsExperience in motion system design and analysis, motion control, and robotics; microfluidics and vision system experience a plusAbility to source COTS products that can be incorporated into novel assemblies and subassembliesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsPrevious experience in an engineering services environment (nice to have)Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 (nice to have)Medical device development experience (nice to have)We offer a work environment which encourages our team to cross-train, pursue inspiring and innovative engineering, and experience a broad depth and breadth of opportunities.
