About Role

Howden Group Holdings' businesses in the United States, including Howden Re and DUAL North America, Inc., are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Compliance Specialist to join our legal team. This role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams within Howden Group's North American businesses to develop, implement and monitor robust compliance frameworks, policies, and processes aimed at complying with employment law and regulations, mitigating risk and promoting a culture of privacy compliance and security throughout the organization, including changes in regulatory requirements while proactively recommending adjustments to policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Assisting internal stakeholders with tracking policy receipt acknowledgements and annual Conflict of Interest attestation.
  • Assisting Human Resources and Legal with tracking employee handbook distribution, receipt acknowledgements, and annual revisions.
  • Assisting with Workplace Violence Prevention and Workplace Injury and Illness Prevention plans and training as required by California law.
  • Preparing annual EEO-1 Reports and California Pay Data Reporting.
  • Ensuring that new hires and current employees complete required training on an annual basis.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable state and local leave and pay transparency requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable wage and hour laws.
  • Working with Legal and Risk Management to coordinate compliance initiatives among multiple departments, including training employees.
  • Assisting Risk Management with compliance reporting.
  • Assisting the Data Privacy Officer with tasks such as: providing guidance and training to employees on compliance obligations and best practices and emerging trends related to data privacy and security, and the implementation of data privacy and security controls, investigations of incidents of potential non-compliance and coordination of appropriate remedial actions.


Qualifications:
  • Proven experience with a minimum of 5-years in a compliance role with a focus on business, employment law, and information and data security, preferably in the insurance or financial services industries. Advanced degrees or professional certifications preferred.
  • Detail-orientated with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Proven track record of project management, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and drive initiatives to successful completion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex compliance issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and thrive in a fast-paces, dynamic environment.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
