DESCRIPTION

The Regional Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Engineer will provide design and post design oversight support in the Michael Baker Great Lakes Region. Candidates for this position should have a background in traffic engineering with an emphasis on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and communication systems. The individual should have design and/or post-design experience for ITS deployments such as Dynamic Message Signs, tolling systems, radar detection systems, CCTV cameras, adaptive traffic signals, tolling systems design and specifications, and fiber optic and wireless communication systems including familiarity with ITS design standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review of ITS contract documents submissions to the client from design consultants
  • Contract documents may include ITS plans, details, specifications, construction cost estimates, reports, and calculations related to ITS design.
  • The individual will coordinate directly with the client and provide review comments to be incorporated with other discipline comments, in a formal memo document.
  • Familiarity with the project delivery process such as concept development, Preliminary Engineering, and Final Design phases to reflect appropriate comment responses.
  • Review ITS and communication working drawing submissions and test results during the construction phase
  • Ability to multi-task between varying projects and stay organized
  • Perform field assessments on an as-needed basis.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 6+ years of experience minimum
  • Professional Engineer License
  • Driver's License

COMPENSATION

The range for this position is $100,942 - $174,870 depending on the skill and experience of the incoming candidate.
