The Opportunity

The Data Product Owner leads the design, delivery and enablement of data products for MRSI within a given domain (i.e. claims, pricing, operations). The data product owner will be directly accountable for developing the vision and strategic roadmap for the owned set of data products and for ensuring a accuracy, consistency and predictable delivery of data within MRSI. This role reports to the Head of Data and is critical to the maturing and success of MRSI's data landscape.

In this position you will:
  • The data product owner is accountable for data products designed and delivered within a subject area or domain (i.e. claims, pricing, operations) by helping define product vision and driving the implementation in partnership with analytics, technical and business teams.
  • Collaborating closely with business teams to understand data needs, identify promising data-based use cases and support in building data products and data product organizations.
  • Leading projects which aim to create value with data and work closely together with our internal partners and external stakeholders
  • Work closely with product owners, data product owners and the data governance lead to ensure interoperability and governance across data products.
  • Translate data product roadmap features into well-defined product requirements including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria.
  • Contributing to the overall development of the department and vision for data within MRSI.
  • Ensuring the documentation standards are met to ensure discoverability of information.
  • Supporting the creation of Munich Re data assets for company, people and assets, and leveraging both, internal and external data sources


Successful candidates will be possess the following skills/capabilities:
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Insurance background, e.g. acquired in an underwriting, claims, consulting or data role
  • Technical data-handling skills, e.g. acquired through a computer science or quantitative education or respective work experience
  • Proven project management capabilities, ideally also experience in product management or ownership.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to develop strategic targets and conceptually transform requirements into solutions
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment
  • Established background in launching software or services in partnership with engineering teams and high degree of proficiency in prototyping, iterative development, understanding of Agile principles
  • High degree of organization, individual initiative, personal accountability and comfort in working in a high paced delivery focused environment.
  • Proactive, self-starter with excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Understanding of insurance systems, processes / workflows a plus


The salary range posted below applies to the Company's NYC location.

The base salary range anticipated for this position is $150,300 - $220,400 plusopportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).

The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in NYC. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
