Job Description - Pharmacy Technician - Inventory / Receiving (3298917)Reporting to the MGH Pharmacy Supply Chain Manager, the Receiving Technician is responsible for receiving all non-controlled pharmaceuticals and pharmacy supplies. The scope of the Receiving Technician responsibilities includes the main campus inpatient cost centers, the main campus ambulatory cost centers, the main campus outpatient pharmacy cost centers, and the satellite ambulatory cost centers. Additionally, the Receiving Technician will be responsible for charging and coordinating delivery of all special orders (from MGH Pharmacy Online Ordering Website) and perform multiple inventory functions. These inventory functions are vital to the Supply Chain performing efficiently (stocking medications, returns to wholesaler, etc.). Receiving Technician must be able to pass both licensure and area specific competences.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Receives and sorts pharmaceuticals and supplies coming from multiple vendors (McKesson, Amerisource, Internal Compounding Center, Outside Repackager, etc.)Receives items where applicable via scanning into computer systems and/or manual documentationStocks all Central Pharmacy inventory zones with exception of carouselsDelivers stock to Central Pharmacy carouselsDelivers non-Central Inventory medications/items to appropriate area/person (supplies, Clinical Trials items, etc.)Fills all special orders and coordinates delivery (Inside/Outside Transportation or Pick-Up)Delivers items needing repackaging or overwrapping to Internal Compounding CenterTrains all new item barcodes into appropriate systemsProcesses wholesaler returns as neededSupports department/functional team with inventory requestTracks and resolves issues and action itemsAlerts Supply Chain team of any issues/discrepancies with receipts/pricingOrganizes extra supply of medications; Re-stocks these medications when space is availablePerforms receipts and charges in EPIC inventoryAlerts pharmacy purchasing as needed for same day medication requestsMaintains the cleanliness of receiving areaRecognizes, communicates, and escalates concerns relevant to inventory management critical path and/or timeline in a timely mannerCompletes specific tasks as directedAssists the Pharmacy Supply Chain Team in conducting the semi-annual physical inventoryAssists in the drug recall process (specifically: checks Central Pharmacy inventory for recalled product when provided recall information)Attends weekly and monthly supply chain meetings, providing feedback on improvements, projects, etc.Attends production support and post-live activitiesOther duties as requiredSKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Credentialed as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) requiredValid Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy registration requiredMust be able to pass pharmacy department competenciesEDUCATION:

High School diploma or equivalent requiredBachelor’s Degree strongly preferredEXPERIENCE:

1-2 years operations experience in a hospital setting strongly preferred1-2 years experience in supply chain strongly preferredFISCAL RESPONSIBILITY (if applicable):

Receiving responsibility for $200mm+ yearly of pharmaceuticals/suppliesWORKING CONDITIONS:

Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time
