Job Summary
As part of the Diversified Industries vertical, the Sr. Portfolio Manager will play a crucial role in the execution of credit facilities for new and existing customers in a broad range of industries (C&I lending). Responsible for the evaluation, structuring, preparation and review of credit memos for proposed and existing credit facilities, generally in the amount of $5,000,000 to $25,000,000. Position requires an advanced working knowledge of the technical/analytical aspects of commercial loan underwriting including the evaluation of (i) cash flow, income statement and balance sheet financial analysis, collateral quality, enterprise valuation, (ii) financial analysis of and management capacity of individual and corporate guarantors, (iii) market/industry trends & risk, and (iv) knowledge of loan participation/syndications. Assists Relationship Managers and in developing, recommending, implementing, and monitoring the loan portfolio, and manage risk consistent with the Bank’s underwriting standards. Prior experience in cash flow lending including leveraged, sponsor-backed, acquisition financing, EV-reliant, etc. strongly preferred.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the ongoing maintenance and monitoring of their assigned portfolio, as well as underwriting new transactions.
Preparation or review of Pre-Screen reports of prospective borrowers and guarantors.
Preparation of Credit Approval Reports for submission to Credit Administration, including loan summary, credit analysis of applicant, and applicable backup data. Ensure that underwriting is complete and consistent with credit policies, procedures, and methodologies.
Deal presentation on loan approval committee meetings when required.
Prepares other written reports as required as part of the loan relationship management.
Manages the process, as required, to ensure timely loan closings.
Manage and maintain assigned loan portfolio to ensure timely modification, extension, renewals, and annual reviews are completed as necessary.
Develops and maintains good relationships with Division Head, Relationship Managers, Credit Analysts & customers.
Maintains current knowledge of the Bank’s loan policies and Risk Rating System.
Provides assistance and training of junior loan officers within the department in coordination with the Portfolio Manager Team Lead.
Performs duties/special projects, as necessary, and other related duties of which the above are representative.
Position Specifications
Education:
BA/MBA in business, accounting, and/or finance, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
Thorough knowledge of commercial lending in the Middle Market and/or Mid-Corporate space, generally acquired through a minimum of 10 years related experience. Leveraged cash flow lending experience strongly preferred.
Skills/ Qualifications:
Knowledge of all technical aspects of commercial loan underwriting, attention to details, superior time management and prioritization skills, proficient oral and written communication skills.
