Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. We are looking for an outstanding Senior Software Engineer to participate in all phases of software development from requirements through implementation and test to operations.

As a Sr. Embedded Firmware Engineer you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design solutions. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open, collaborative peer environment.

Key job responsibilities

Work closely with hardware teams and operation teams to align on requirements

Create software designs to satisfy requirements

Develop embedded software in Rust, C, C++, or other modern languages for Linux and real-time operating system (RTOS) based systems

Write device drivers and system applications for the various satellite systems.

About the team

Our team tackles many critical satellite functions including power management, hardware interfaces, command & telemetry, and autonomous control.

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
