Quantum Communications Scientist

to join a diverse, highly skilled team to create unique solutions for complex problems involving US weapon systems and the next generation of quantum secure communication.This is a full-time position with the Leidos CEMA team in Huntsville, Alabama but is closely affiliated with the Cyber Electromagnetic Activity (CEMA) team efforts located in Lawton, Oklahoma. This position will specifically focus on leading the research, design, and implementation of future quantum technologies focusing on quantum sensing, quantum secure direct communication (QSDC), and quantum cryptography.The primary objective of the CEMA team effort at Lawton is to help the U.S. Army improve CEMA readiness for warfighters operating complex, mission-critical weapon systems in a CEMA contested environment by improving resiliency and survivability.This team currently operates in both unclassified and classified environments at both the new Fires Innovation Science and Technology Accelerator (FISTA) complex in Lawton and the Leidos Defense Systems complex in Huntsville.Travel between Huntsville, AL and Lawton, OK will be expected up to 20% of the time. Residence in or near Huntsville, AL is anticipated; however, residing in or near Lawton, OK is optional if preferred.Primary ResponsibilitiesResearch and Development efforts associated with defining solutions for our Army-based customers in its efforts to improve the security of tactical communications.Ideation and development of a future Quantum laboratory and testbed that supports testing, evaluation, and integration of quantum photonic circuits, cryptographic solutions, and quantum RF solutions into future military applications.Basic QualificationsCandidate must have the following experience in quantum-relevant areas identified above:Bachelor's Degree in physics, electrical engineering, mathematics, or similar area plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in quantum computing, quantum communications, optics, physical electronics, or similar area.Or Master's Degree in physics, electrical engineering, mathematics, or similar area plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience in quantum computing, quantum communications, optics, physical electronics, or similar area.Or Ph.D. in physics, electrical engineering, mathematics, or similar area plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in quantum computing, quantum communications, optics, physical electronics, or similar area.Candidate must have experience standing up and/or running advanced technical projects.Must be a US Citizen.
