Structure

The Director of Development, Colleges, Medicine, is an exempt (salaried) position employed by the University of Cincinnati Foundation (UCF) and has a full-time assignment to the UC Academic Health Center’s Office of Development and Alumni Affairs. This position reports to the Senior Director of Development, Colleges, Medicine.

Focus

The Director of Development, Colleges, Medicine, is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing the fundraising for specific programs in the UC College of Medicine. Heavy emphasis is placed on developing relationships with grateful patients, community partners/organizations, alumni, and faculty to secure major gift funding to support the programs’ academic missions.

Specific Duties

Work closely with the Senior Director of Development, Colleges, Medicine, to develop, implement, and reach metric driven financial targets commensurate with the team’s overarching goals.Build and maintain an active portfolio of major gift ($100K+) prospects through a robust schedule of personal visits and strategic interactions.Foster productive partnerships with Academic Health Center faculty and leadership to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and close major gift donors to fund priority programs.Work collaboratively with UCF departments and fundraising specialists (prospect development, gift planning, corporate and foundation relations, and national programs) for the benefit of the Academic Health Center.Collaborate across multiple disciplines, as needed, to enhance fundraising revenue and donor impact.Ensure appropriate stewardship of gifts and donors.Maintain donor files and reports related to UCF, the Academic Health Center and UC Health fundraising programs.Maintain confidentiality regarding Personal Health Information (PHI) and protect the lawful privacy of colleagues and donors.Complete other special assignments relating to awareness, involvement and support as requested by faculty, in close collaboration with the UCGNI team.Demonstrate a commitment to developing efforts to support diversity, equity, and inclusion.Other duties, as assigned.Requirements

Bachelor’s degree with 5-7 years of fundraising experience, preferably in a medical or healthcare setting or advanced degree with 3-5 years of experienceCFRE preferredUnderstanding of basic scientific principlesRecord of successful gift solicitation and closureStrong interpersonal and written communication skillsAbility to interact favorably with a diverse group of individuals and to foster strong, productive relationshipsWillingness to travel and attend evening and weekend activities as needed. The anticipated starting salary range for the Director of Development, Colleges - Medicine role is $80,000-$95,000 annually. When determining final offer amount the UC Foundation considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, external market data, as well as, market and business considerations when making compensation decisions.
