The Opportunity

We are looking for a people and client-focused US Tax Manager to join our tax team. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned CPA who is looking to progress in their career in a high-growth and high-opportunity public accounting environment.

About You
  • You have 3 to 5 years of public accounting experience specializing in US and cross border personal and corporate tax compliance
  • You have experience with US international tax reporting requirements including forms such as Form 3520, 3520-A, 8858, 8621, 5471, 5472, FinCEN Form 114, and related schedules
  • You have successfully achieved a Professional Accounting Designation (US CPA, Canadian CPA, or IRS Enrolled Agent), or equivalent experience
  • You have the ability to interpret tax legislation as it relates to US federal and state taxes and other cross-border tax issues
  • You can emphasize and build the value of service offered to the client with strong project management and organizational skills
  • You have excellent research and written communication skills, combined with sound quantitative skills
  • You can effectively manage conflicting demands and priorities
  • You can instill enthusiasm in others to achieve desired results
  • You can effectively link the activities of the department to firm's business strategy

Assets
  • Working knowledge of complex US international tax concepts such as GILTI, subpart F, PFICs, QBUs, and transfer pricing tax concepts
  • Experience with Canadian corporation international tax concepts including FAPI and transfer pricing tax reporting requirements s
  • Masters of US Taxation or the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course

Role and Responsibilities
  • Reviewing prepared cross-border personal tax returns (Canadian and US)
  • Reviewing prepared domestic/international federal and multi-state corporate/partnership information returns (primarily US)
  • Reviewing US cross-border trust and estate tax returns
  • Interacting with US federal and state tax authorities to assist clients in resolving tax audits, notices and issues
  • Utilizing the Canada US Tax Treaty to determine filing positions for cross border clients
  • Planning and organizing teams for the preparation of tax returns as well as periodically conducting and presenting tax research
  • Advising on planning opportunities, tax minimization strategies, and compliance issues
  • Reviewing the work of junior staff for accuracy and completeness
  • Regularly meeting with clients to assess US tax compliance and planning needs
  • Providing ongoing support and mentoring for the professional development of staff
  • Occasional preparation of tax returns if required to meet deadlines


About The Details

This is a permanent full-time position in our tax team. Role can be structured as fully remote, hybrid, or working out of one of our RLB offices. Paid overtime may be required occasionally during busier times.
