The Director of Business Development is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities (new customers, new projects, new markets, and service offerings), enhancing the presence of the company and its brand. Existing clients are managed by the Executive Team, but BD can bring awareness to the team for new opportunities with existing clients.
The position is responsible for new client and project development, tracking new markets and emerging trends, recommending new products and services, proposing and developing new strategic partnerships, and supporting long-term business development objectives to meet Chesapeake's strategic plans and objectives.
Responsibilities:
Identify business opportunities with existing clients. Vet potential customers and strategic partners to establish new business relationships and stay abreast of direct competitor and potential client activity both locally and nationally. Identify potential opportunities for expansion – geographic, products, and service offerings. Discover and explore, with the direction of the executive team, opportunities in new regions where market sectors and potential/existing clients align with our strategic plans. Identify and attend industry and networking events that support and align with Chesapeake's overall mission. Actively manage Chesapeake's CRM software to ensure it is properly maintained, accurate, and current. Develop and manage the annual business development budget. Collaborate with marketing to develop and deliver proposals and presentations to support business development efforts. Support the Company's commitment to establishing strong relationships with exceptional customer service to our clients and serve as an ambassador for Chesapeake. Minimum Requirements:
Proven track record of increasing strategic business partners. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related field. 8+ years of business development or sales experience within the construction industry. Knowledge of the construction industry and experience working in a business development role in the industry. Strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct market research, analyze trends, and present insights to the team. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Prezi, and Outlook. Benefits:
