FutureHouse is a new, non-profit AI-for-science lab using AI to automate research in biology and other complex sciences. We are backed by Eric Schmidt, and our mission is to build AI systems that can scale scientific research and allow humanity to proceed as quickly as possible to find cures for disease, solutions for climate change, and other species-accelerating technologies.We are seeking exceptionally creative, ambitious, and productive individuals to join our team as software engineers. Ideal candidates will be collaborators with our existing team of researchers and engineers, leveraging their software skills to implement new systems that help FutureHouse scale and set the state-of-the-art in AI-for-science research. Candidates should be comfortable writing code while also thinking at a systems level for deploying their work.This role is based in our San Francisco, CA office.Responsibilities:Collaborate as part of a team with other members of technical staff to implement new AI systems that can solve important scientific problems.Come up with new ideas, identify and resolve challenges, and figure out how to maximize performance across a wide range of benchmarks.Requirements:Strong foundation in computer science.Proficient in programming languages such as Python, and open to mastering new technologies as needed.Experience in the operations and deployment of database-backed and asynchronous applications.Demonstrated ability to solve challenging problems and implement solutions efficiently.Experience with complex ETL and data pipeline architectures is a plus.Experience with LLMs for training or inference is a plus.Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, multidisciplinary team environment.Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.What we offer:Everyone who works here is insanely smart.We are working on problems that are way more interesting than what you'll find anywhere else.
