SERVER CUSTOMER PLATFORM ARCHITECT

THE ROLE:

We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Lead / Principal Server Customer Platform Architect to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD’s product, you will be part of a leading team to drive and improve AMD’s abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market. The Server Customer Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development. It's a pivotal role where you draw from a broad spectrum of technical experience including silicon, platform hardware and architecture, and software to deliver sophisticated products.

THE PERSON:

As a deeply experienced Principal Platform Architect with breadth across system and/or chip development, you work across swim lanes and guide system-level Server customer technical design and execution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Utilize the latest technological and scientific methods to develop and fully optimize EPYC SoC products and platforms. Identify opportunities to advance current methods, design experiments, conduct Proof of Concept studies, build consensus, and apply new techniques directly to products in development. Your track record of accomplishment at the Principal Architect level will enable you to prioritize, drive, and influence throughout the organization and externally to deliver groundbreaking results for EPYC customers and AMD’s server business. Work at depth across silicon design, system validation, manufacturing test, firmware, and other disciplines to optimize power, performance and TCO through to launch.

Take the lead role in architectural discussions primarily with US based Datacenter customers; take ownership of issues and drive closure with a sense of urgency.

Exert visible influence in internal and external platform architecture topics and be highly visible and communicative.

Serve as the trusted advisor and/or consultant to executives.

Produce tangible and measurable results such as technical analysis and recommendations, proposed customer communications, meeting minutes from customer discussions, presentations to staff, proposals for how to proceed, etc.

Demonstrate technical expertise of server system topics, such as system architecture and design, memory, I/O, signal integrity, power integrity, power delivery, thermal, mechanical, power management and contribute to future EPYC architectural direction.

Develop and/or improve our training and enabling collaterals and collaborate with other staff members to drive results.

Deliver training on topics as needed.

Identify opportunities to advance current methods, design experiments, conduct Proof of Concept studies, build consensus, and apply new techniques directly to products in development.

Work across organizations, including design, system validation, manufacturing test, firmware, and other disciplines to optimize power, performance and TCO through to launch.

Demonstrate expert ability to break complex system-level problems down into manageable pieces and drive resolution through design of experiments and data-driven decisions.

Coach and be a mentor to senior staff.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Must be a self-starter, and able to independently drive tasks to completion.

Extensive knowledge of system architecture, technical debug, and validation strategy.

Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and pronounced attention to details.

Programming/scripting skills (e.g. C/C++, Perl, Ruby, Python).

Debug techniques and methodologies.

Extensive experience with board/platform-level debug, including delivery, sequencing, analysis, and optimization.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical or computer engineering or equivalent.

At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package. Your base pay will depend on where your skills, qualifications, experience, and location fit into the hiring range for the position.
