University Director of Career Development

Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs with a dotted line reporting relationship to the University Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the University Director of Career Development is responsible for the leadership, vision, and strategic direction of Career Development at FDU’s two New Jersey campuses (in Madison, NJ and Teaneck, NJ), as well as its campus in Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada).The University Director of Career Development supervises and leads a team that includes full/part-time employees, graduate students, and student workers across all campuses. This includes developing and managing the budget for career-related activities and programs. Serve as the primary administrator of University Career Development platforms, such as Handshake, and works closely with the University webmaster to maintain/update the Career Development website.Required Qualifications:Master’s degree required in higher education or related field.At least five years managerial and university career services or related field experience preferred.Current knowledge of state-of-the-art programs and approaches in the areas of career development, and the relationship of academic preparation to the world of work. Commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.Demonstrated record of collaborating and networking with deans, department chairs, senior corporate executives, recruiters, students, alumni, faculty, and staff to accomplish common goals. Experience or desire to participate in relevant university committees is helpful.Excellent human relations and oral and written communication skills.Computer proficiency required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) preferred. Advanced experience and/or proficiency with career-specific technologies, such as Handshake, is also preferred.Evidence supporting an ability to successfully bring employers (recruiters) to campus.Valid driver’s license and accessibility to transportation for travel between campuses, and to visit employers and recent alumni.Valid passport for occasional travel to the international campus in Vancouver (Canada).Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing a background check.Preferred Qualifications:
