Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to join our team supporting the Federal Judiciary in its cybersecurity efforts. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive information security programs to protect the Federal Judiciary's critical data and systems.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs) for the Federal Judiciary's information systemsConduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability scans to identify potential security threats and vulnerabilitiesImplement and manage security controls in accordance with federal guidelines and best practicesCollaborate with IT teams to ensure security measures are integrated into all aspects of system development and operationsMonitor security systems and respond to security incidents in a timely mannerDevelop and maintain security policies, procedures, and documentationConduct security awareness training for Federal Judiciary staffManage the process for granting, modifying, and revoking system accessCoordinate with external auditors and assessors during security audits and assessmentsStay current with emerging cybersecurity threats, technologies, and best practicesProvide regular security status reports to management
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field; Master's degree preferred5+ years of experience in information security, with at least 3 years in a senior security roleIn-depth knowledge of information security principles, best practices, and relevant federal regulations (e.g., FISMA, NIST guidelines)Experience with developing and maintaining System Security Plans (SSPs)Proficiency in various security tools and technologies (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM)Familiarity with cloud security concepts and practicesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to explain complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Required Certifications
CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or equivalentAdditional certifications such as CISM, CEH, or GIAC Security Expert are a plus
