Description: Join a global automotive leader as a Lab Fabrication Technician dedicated to revolutionizing mobility by fostering innovative teams aimed at pushing the boundaries in new frontiers. This role involves extensive hands-on technical work, being an integral part of the team of an ongoing R&D program in aircraft assembly, installation, inspection, and repair. As a Lab Fabrication Tech, you will install, maintain, and repair mechanical and electrical systems on aircraft, ensuring optimal functionality and safety. Your expertise in manufacturing processes will be crucial in executing engineering work orders and contributing to the development of new prototypes. This role is suited for a passionate and skilled technician who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments and is eager to drive innovation in aerospace technology. This position initially requires the candidate to be based in Colorado for a period of five months. Candidates who are currently residing in Colorado or are willing to temporarily relocate there for the duration will be given priority consideration. Following this period, the role requires a permanent relocation to Southern California. Responsibilities: Install, inspect, test, adjust, and repair various mechanical equipment on aircraft, including flight control, landing gear, and engine systems. Utilize a variety of hand tools and test equipment to ensure equipment meets required standards and regulations. Coordinate with engineering teams to execute work orders, ensuring all technical aspects are handled with precision. Document all maintenance and repair work, contributing to maintenance reports for aircraft certification. Fabricate parts and assemblies using tools like soldering irons, lathes, and milling machines. Perform ground operations for flight tests and maintain comprehensive records of all work performed. Collaborate with teams to update standard operating procedures and provide training to junior technicians. Maintain shop premises in a clean and orderly condition. Required Skillset: Minimum of 7+ years of experience as an engineering technician in the aerospace industry. Strong understanding of aircraft manufacturing processes, including machining, welding, sheet metal work, and electronics. Proficiency in aircraft repair, modification, and flight operation support. A&P License required. Previous experience in prototype fabricating. Ability to work in environments with operational noise, heat, cold, dust, and potential exposure to aircraft parts or fuel odors. Familiarity with engineering configuration tools such as TeamCenter. Familiarity with engineering design tools such as CATIA V5 & V6. Ability to read and understand wiring drawings and technical documentation. Experience in planning assembly and manufacturing processes and creating technical documentation. Must be able to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, climb ladders, and reach during prolonged periods as required by job duties. Capable of pulling, pushing, carrying, lifting, or moving items up to 50 lbs with assistance. Excellent communication skills, capable of collaborating effectively with engineering teams and management. Flexibility to adapt to various schedules, work overtime, and travel as needed. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bonus Skillset: Prior experience in an R&D environment. Location: Colorado with 25% domestic travel Type: Contract (1-2 year+ assignment)
